Yep, I took a picture of that (9100 total) COMPLETED 9/1

Hi! It has taken me two nights but I have finally caught up.:surfweb:I am a photo nut also. My last trip Thanksgiving 07 I had 2100 photos if I'm not mistaken. I have done 4 large scrapbooks and I have not finished yet. My 1st whole album is of nothing but our resort.:confused3 The Wilderness lodge.(my 1st and only time probable to stay a a deluxe resort) So I wanted pictures. I now have a new goal. 9100 pictures.:thumbsup2 I burst into laughter over the red shirts.:rotfl2: That sounds like my husband and my oldest sons luck.:lmao: I love the red shirt pic. my husband won't go that early in summer. Too crowded and too hot. Way crowded on Thanksgiving also. I won't go on another holiday.Unless I get a chance.:cool1:

Great updates! :thumbsup2

Waaay too funny about the red shirt thing. :lmao:

This picture is priceless!

I'm so glad that your son got to interact with his idol. Great photos. :thumbsup2 I'm shocked that you got away with photographing Soarin not once, but twice since you're not allowed to hold onto cameras or anything during the attraction. You may be the only TR with those bootleg photos :teeth: you could see them on Ebay! Glad you got to do some great attractions this trip such as Soarin and Haunted Mansion. Too funny about the George thing. I think "George" when going through Pirates but have never actually gotten around to saying it. Too worried that it could be true and then I'm stuck on the ride for who knows how long. :rotfl:

One photo you should hunt for on your next trip:

Have you ever seen those guys?

Really, what are the chances I'd actually wear the one red shirt (besides a work shirt) I even own. Granted, the Phillies shirt has red in it, but it's not the same! At least it made for a good story and a pretty funny pic!

We're thinking of maybe October next year but I'm gonna see if they want to hold off till Nov and see some of the Christmas decorations!

I have seen those guys. Last year I went on with my brother and I did see them! I don't think I took a picture but I'll have to check!

Day 8 part 2.

The last time I left you we had gone back to the Beach House to get ready for dinner with some friends from back home. During the week we had stopped at the Emporium in Magic Kingdom to do a little bit of shopping and picked up some matching shirts for the boys to wear tonight. If you’ve ever stayed at the Beach Club using DVC points, I’m sure you remember the Little Mermaid statue. The boys love it and did a little posing for us.

4:10pm and we were off to the Magic Kingdom. I’m finding it hard to believe, but I don’t think I took a picture of the bus ride! I know! Anyways, 4:25 we are through the turnstiles and I’m going back and forth with my buddy Mike as to his whereabouts. The boys still didn’t know that Mike and his family were down there this week. We head past the train station and I hear a whistle coming from the flag area. As we walked in that direction they all saw each other at the same time and had looks of both shock, amazement, and confusion all at the same time. Aren’t they so cute?

dis007.jpg

It was Kate’s (Mike’s DD) birthday today so we brought some presents and wished her happy birthday and told here we were all going to dinner together!
dis013.jpg

We stood around and chatted for a few and I noticed this plaque next to the bench dedicated to Walt himself.

dis0322.jpg

dis009.jpg

If you can’t make it out in the picture, the plaque reads
WALT DISNEY WORLD
Is a tribute to the philosophy and life of
Walter Elias Disney
…and to the talents, the dedication, and the loyalty
Of the entire Disney organization that made Walt
Disney’s dream come true. May Walt Disney World
bring Joy and Inspiration and New Knowledge to all
who come to this happy place…a Magic Kingdom
where the young at heart of all ages can laugh and
play and learn – together.

Dedicated this 25th day of October, 1971

It just made me stop for a minute and look around. Everything there was done with him in mind, yet he never saw any of it except on paper. Well, if he was as OCD as most of us here on the forum, I’m sure he loved every minute planning on what was to be built. Thanks Walt.

Sorry to be sidetracked a little, I just thought that was pretty important.

So where were we? Oh yea, the boys poised for a few more pictures

dis016.jpg

dis017.jpg

and we were off to dinner at the Poly! We hopped on the monorail and made our way to past the Contemporary and down to the jungle platform.

We were taking bets on whether or not we could jump and not get hurt.

We went in and told that we were here for a 5:15 reservation. We had a few minutes to spare and browsed around the lobby and gift shop and even pressed a few pennies.

At 5:18 they had tables set up for our party of 10 and we put our order in for drinks. Before the food came out the kids were all called up to participate in the festivities. There was a coconut race to which they all had to push a coconut around the restaurant using nothing but a broom.

dis123.jpg

I was curious on how this whole thing works since they don’t actually have a menu per say. Basically they come around to all the tables at once with skewers of food and fork out what everybody wants. The thing I wasn’t really fond of was how every table gets the same thing at the same time until the next course comes out. Basically, everybody gets chicken wings. 15 minutes later everybody gets dumplings and so on. Me, I like to have everything all at once and pick and choose as I go. Still, the food was very good and the entertainment was, well, entertaining! Kate got her birthday cake and finally got to open some presents!

SIDE NOTE: I’ve heard that the drinks served in the pineapples were quite strong but you can ask them to dilute it down for you. I think the first one was ok, but the second made the room spin a little!

dis088.jpg

dis109.jpg

We finished up around 6:50 and Tina was feeling good from her 2nd Pineapple drink

dis125.jpg

And Mike and I were still discussing on whether or not we could make the jump from up here and not get hurt.

dis126.jpg

I think one more pineapple and we would have been getting escorted out wet and soggy!

We headed back to the Magic Kingdom to spend the rest of the evening together letting the kids have fun. Logan was a gentleman and gave up his seat for Kate.

dis127.jpg

The first thing the kids wanted to do was Dumbo again! The boys also wanted to do Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin again so we grabbed fastpasses (with a return time in ½ hr) for that and headed to Dumbo. It seems like it didn’t matter what time you went that week, there was always a 20 minute wait.
dis131.jpg

Poor Logan had to sit with me so the only pictures I was able to get with him in it were close ups! Some of the other ones almost look like postcards……..

Next up was the fast line for Buzz. The wait time for standby was 40 minutes, we were on in 8 minutes flat!

Did you take notice? Even Mommom Ginny got on! Usually if it’s something spinning around, she’d rather watch from the sidelines, but this time she was all for it! (remember the pineapple drinks? I think they gave here the courage!)

We than decided we needed to get over to the Castle if we were going to be able to find a spot for wishes. Yep, Kate gets fireworks on her birthday, how cool is that!

dis158.jpg

dis163.jpg

Apparently 10,000 other people thought about it before we did. We took our spot off to the side of the Castle and I tried to set my camera on the gorillapod I bought just for this trip. Some of the pictures came out OK I guess but the spot we were in wasn’t really what I wanted. The little girl going crazy shaking the fence my camera was on and being so close her hair was in ½ of the pictures on didn’t help. Even so, I got a few. I must say I really liked setting my camera up to take pictures every 30 seconds with a 4 second shutter speed. I was able to enjoy the show without looking through a lens the whole time and here’s what I got.

dis188.jpg

dis189.jpg

dis194.jpg

The show was over all too soon and thousands of people scattered in all different directions to get to their next ride before the lines tripled. With no plan in mind, we headed over towards

dis198.jpg

dis199.jpg

dis200.jpg

Stich’s Great Escape was starting in 5 minutes so we figured why not? A few minutes later and we were in. I was looking forward to seeing this since the last time I was there it was Alien Encounters. We were first greeted by this guy

dis246.jpg

And met him/her

dis259.jpg

It was all pretty cool in my opinion and I really appreciate all that goes into setting all that up. Unfortunately when we made out way to the seating area we found this going on.

dis302.jpg

At first I figured it was just part of the ride, but then the ½ inch of water on the floor and seats said another story. Apparently a sprinkler was defective and we had to leave the area. The Cast Members apologized and offered us fastpasses to use to come back in later on. When we exited the building I noticed that they weren’t just to come back to see Stich, they were…..

dis309.jpg

Yep, our 2nd set of fastpasses good for ANY ride we wanted!!! Not only that, they were good for a whole week! When we came out the kids were all begging to go drive the race cars and Mike was begging to go watch the Phillies play. After careful consideration, we arrived here……

dis310.jpg

dis312.jpg

dis317.jpg

dis321.jpg

When the ride was over Mike and his family headed back to their room and we headed back to Adventure Land for a ride on

dis328.jpg

And…

dis330.jpg

This time we didn’t get to walk right on, but 10 minutes isn’t bad! Besides, it gave me time to take some pictures of the queue!

dis042.jpg

dis331.jpg

dis332.jpg

dis335.jpg

dis338.jpg

By now it was getting a little late and the boys started dozing off in the stroller around 11:40. But we still had a couple of fastpasses burning a hole in our pockets and there was one ride we still wanted to do but have never yet tried…..
dis359.jpg

Let me just say that the closest the boys have ever been to a roller coaster is when we hopped on the Goofy’s Barnyard one in Toontown. It’s not all that different right? Hehehe….. The boys were both asleep when we got to the queue. We presented our fastpasses and were told that technically, the fastpass line was done for the night BUT since we had special fastpasses, we were told to go down to a different ramp. Unbeknown to us, this was a line for people with disabilities. When we got up to the front, the lady very politely informed us of that. But, she told us to hop on anyway and use our fastpasses somewhere else! So, we just avoided a 1hr line by 40 minutes AND we still have magical fastpasses! Once we got into the building where the trains pull in, we woke the boys and showed them the nice train ride we were about to get on. They love trains! What we forgot to mention, is that these trains go fast, very fast. Eh, I’m not really a details kind of guy! So, off to the nice train ride we go.

dis362.jpg

dis364.jpg

dis365.jpg

I tried to take a picture or two on the ride and keep Logans sleepy head from bouncing around at the same time but it just wasn’t happening. I REALLY wish I had pictures of their faces when the train just took off. They went from barely keeping their eyes open, to looking like they each just ate 2 pounds of chocolate coated in sugar! Nathan loved it, Logan still talks about me holding his head. Tina and I? We still crack up when we think about it! All in all, we will all be on it again next year I’m sure!

Giggling and teasing about Big Thunder Mountain, we head toward the bus area. Even with that ride to wake the boys up a little, they still fell fast asleep on the way back to the hotel. It’s just another beautifully perfect day at Disney World, the kind that you don’t want to end but can’t wait to go to sleep. If only we could all have one day, every month, just like it, the world would be a much happier place.

Guys and Gals don’t give up on me yet. There’s still one more full day and a half left of our journey. (And a couple hundred more pictures!!!!)

Found your trip report last night and I finished it this am before work! I love all of the pictures. It is really helping get me more excited (if that is possible) about my October trip! Your family is gorgeous and I am so happy they got to participate in the Capt. Jack show!

Thank you so much! I'm sure you're going to have a blast in October! I hear the crowd levels are lower and the temp is just about perfect! Stick around, I still have more coming soon!

It sounds like you all had a wonderful MK evening. MK is my favorite park, in fact my favorite place anywhere. Too bad you didn't get the pictures you wanted, but I am sure you will have more chances.

It's just one more thing to look forward to next time! My problem was I spent to much time on photography section of the boards and saw all the pictures those guys posted of Wishes. It will happen for me, I just gotta be patient!
