It's been a while since I've been on the boards and don't really know where to post this, but...

Has anyone taken a snowmobile trip through Yellowstone? Can you recommend or warn about any of the groups that do it? Did you use DVC points during your trip? Where?

Mod: If this is posted incorrectly, please feel free to cross-post.

We did this about 10+ years ago, long before they were going to ban snowmobiles, then not, etc, etc.

We stayed in West Yellowstone close enough to the west park entrance that we rode from our hotel, and rented the sleds out there. I don't know HOW I ever got the information to setup everything back then before I could use the Internet!

We saw lots of wildlife, actually (I think we went Xmas-NY time period, but I can't swear to it), including a buffalo family (mom, dad, kid) and a huge wolf. Also moose and elk.

We had a fantastic time, but we've never eaten a Hostess Cherry Pie since - they just never tasted as good as they did frozen in the carry-all of our sled.... Ah, the good old days!

I sure wish they would carry out that ban on snowmobiles in Yellowstone. When we went in 1993 in January it was heaven except during the day when all we could hear was the roar of snowmobiles. You can actually stay in the park through Xanterra and ride the snow coaches from Mammoth to Old Faithful. Much nicer, not as noisy and smelly, plus you get to see all the animals. Then you can walk around Old Faithful area.

Xanterra can't be done with DVC points.
