Using Magical Express for the first time and have not heard about yellow tags. Do they send them internationally - we are flying from the UK?
Since you're flying internationally and don't qualify for luggage delivery, you won't get them.

That's interesting as I recently watched a vlog from a couple from the UK who flew in with Virgin (same as us) and used Disney Express. They had their luggage collected and taken to their room. We also have instructions as to what to do with our luggage after we have cleared immigration and customs in order for it to be collected for us. So it seems that we can get the service but without yellow tags.

Problem is, we leave in 12 days and coming from Canada.

Even with 12 days left you may be able to get more.
Otherwise give your claim ticket to a DME CM or don't put the yellow tags on any of your luggage and just pick up yourself.
Point is you have options but cutting the tags in half is not one of them.

Why do people keep saying cutting tags in half is not an option?

I’ve done it multiple times and never an issue.

For those of you saying it’s not an option, have you done it and had a problem?

I have not done it because I have not encountered not having enough but I believe the paperwork specifically says not to.
Am I incorrect that nowhere in the mailing or on the tags it stated that?

Please make sure you read all info on the tag and please don't advise others to do what you do.
You're pretty lucky to still have received your luggage.

You've been lucky.

Cutting the tag in half prevents it from moving freely around the handle which makes it more difficult for the airport workers that have to scan it and makes it more likely that it will come off.

If you know you're going to need more tags, just call DME and ask for them.

Wait, why don’t they qualify for luggage delivery

Agreed.

I do recall that it states to not cut the tags.

Leaving Canada is considered a domestic flight since you clear US customs before you board the plane. And you get the
yellow tags.

So they mail them to Canada?

While yellow tags are still used it is really simple if you don't have enough or haven't gotten them. And all the instructions you need are right there in the confirmation and paper work you receive. Reading will really answer all questions, promise.
You just have to give all claim checks to the CM at ME check in and they will get the bags. We have done them many times. It works great. So yellow tags are totally optional. Never any need to cut them in half.
And like I said, I am amazed that this is something that still confuses so many since it is spelled out right there in the ME instructions you receive when you sign up

It's my understanding that if the International guest goes through customs prior to arriving at MCO they can still use yellow tags. Or something along those lines.

Yes they mail them to Canada. I'm in Montreal and received them about a week ago for my August 25th trip.

Unless there is some irregularity that day or that hour, yellow tags (and the whole customs procedure) work arriving at Orlando customs in the same manner as when (for those folks) pre-clearing customs before entering the U.S.

The Orlando customs station has the same features including putting your bags back "into the system" after customs inspection, there is a usually unattended conveyor belt rather than an attendant re-accepting your bags for continuing travel. Bags re-accepted at Orlando are handled by Magical Express as applicable to go to your resort.

At Orlando there is (usually except for an irregularity that day or that hour) the choice of hauling your bags out of the customs station yourself and onto the airport tram. Som folks may find this more convenient when DME stops intercepting bags after 10 PM to take to your resort for you.

You can photocopy or scan/print yellow tags to get extras. Use enough transparent packaging tape or laminating material to cover the entire surface to prevent washing off of the information if the tag gets wet which it will if there is a rainstorm when you land in Orlando.

Cutting tags in half crosswise is not recommende. By the time you wrap the half tag around your suitcase handle, the ends to stick together are so short and the cardboard is stiff enough that it might become unstuck during flight and fall off completely.

This :thumbsup2 I couldn’t understand why previous posters said International does not get tags. We always do in Canada. But we do fly out of Toronto where US customs is before our flight - so what AngiTN says makes sense. We do not get our Magicbands mailed, but we do get the yellow tags.

Just to add: Leaving in 9 days, and we got our tags exactly at the 30-day mark.

Guests in the US and cCanad get the yellow tags, but that's it. Canada is the exception, not the rule

Oh ok. Was just clarifying for my fellow “international” Canadians. ;) Despite clearing customs upfront, flights from Canada are NOT considered domestic. I understand if it’s a different policy for out-of-continent.

I know it’s a different company handling Magical Express - just wish Disney mailed us the rest of our package items (magicbands, luggage tags, Magical extras) too. But that’s another topic. :rotfl:
