Yellow Cab Prices - Beware

We went with Yellow Cab from our hotel, the BWPPI, yesterday to the LGB Airport and were unpleasantly surprised by the $$. When you go to the Long Beach Airport website it gives you estimated costs from the airport to your hotel which for us was $36 - a deal for the 6 of us. What it doesn't tell you is that the return fares are double!!

Yellow Cab Prices: Beware
From LGB to the BWPPI = $31.75 (which we used on the way there)
From BWPPI to LGB = $63.00

So traveler beware or prepared!

I was told that in order to get a flat fare, you had to request it at the beginning of the journey. If you didn't, then they charged for mileage and time (or however they base their regular rates).

Yep, I had to negotiate a fare back to LGB from the DLH. I asked up front if it was the same $35 fare that I was given on the way to the hotel. He told me it wasn't, and that they charge mileage. I was about to walk away when he decided to negotiate with me. I ended up paying $38.

Oh my goodness, YEP I couldnt agree with you more. When we went to DL last October, we caught a cab at the DL bus loop, and we were taking a cab to Buena Park to the Medieval Times restaraunt. It cost us about $25 to get there which we didnt mind, but on the way back We caught another Yellow Cab and the driver decided to take the LONG WAY even though we told him which route we wanted to take. THEN on top of not listening to us, he got lost and charged us the extra fee. Needless to say we told him to shove it, cause I had proper directions and having been around a few days, I knew where I was going and was pointing him in the right direction. After he decided to listen to me we made it back to our hotel. Getting back cost us almost $60. We said under no cirumcstance are we paying the "Lost" fee when I was trying to tell him where to go in the first place. We paid him $25 and told him to beat it and we would take it up with his manager if he decided to complain. So he left really mad, but we didnt care. He was arguing saying we had to pay him. But we called up and told them our problem and they said not to worry about the extra charge.

I wouldnt take yellow cab again if my life depended on it.
