I was at disneyland September 23 it was a great day. By day three it turned for me. Help me get the magic back. I was at Mickey's toontown went up the exit to Goofys Bounce House on Accident the Cast Memder Yelled at me with about four or five kids bouncing around one little girl ran away. It was total uncalled for just to let you know there was no one in line to go in. I could not get over someone yelling at me like that.I left Disnryland. :confused3
Has anyone been yelled at by a Cast Member.

Help me get the magic back please

I wasn't yelled at per say, but snipped at. This was Sept 20th, I was in DL for the very first time ever, and it was early entry, so my friend and I took the monorail over, and decided to hit Space Mountain first. Well, after finally making it, I find out that I couldn't fit my long legs in the new rockets, and the CM snipped at me "either sit down or exit the ride vehicle", she said (snipped) this 3 times. I WAS trying to get out, but my friend had sat down, and had to get up so I could get out!! Lovely way to experience the DL magic my first day eh? Needless to say, two days later (when we went back again), I went to city hall to report her.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Jules

If you know the CM's name I would report him/her.
That's no way to treat a guest, especially when it was an honest mistake.
Even if the CM was having a bad day, they should not take it out on guests.
That's why they're in customer service business.

It's hard not to take that stuff personally...as for Space Mountain the reason they get fussy is that apparently if people don't load efficiently, the ride gets backed up and then has to "break down" if they don't get the cars out of the loading area fast, fast, fast. I'm sure they just got antsy and didn't want it to jam.

Sorry! It must stink when the happiest place on earth makes you feel like $#&!.

i've been yelled at....maybe twice. being a so cal AP holder, i used to go there alot. this was a very long time ago (maybe a year ago) and i've posted it here before. and the whole conversation came up on how DL hire alot of part time college students who don't take pride in their work.

Considering they are hiring anything with a pulse these days I am not suprised by this post. I hope things change soon.

The space mountain thing is true if you do not load fast enough it does break down the ride but no need to yell at the guest just explain that if you don't get in or out fast enough the ride will break down.

A friend of mine was yelled at once, but he deserved it. He ignored the warning to keep your hands away from the vehicle doors on Spaceship Earth, and she yelled when she noticed he was about to lose a finger. :>

Not me but one of my friends got yelled at when we were on the Pirates of The Ciribbien. U know how they say keep your hands inside the boat. Well when we were getting on he was splashing the water and the lady said don't do that or we'll make u get off but he obviusly wasn't listening so then the lady said "get off"and he said "why?". Then she just yelled at him and said to get off. So then he waited for us at the ending.

Once at WDW; as my wife and I were sitting down in the Splash Mountain logs, we noticed gum or some kind of "gunk" on our seats. I tried wiping it with whatever I had available and the whole time several cast members were snipping at us to sit down so they can get the log going. I just sat down in it because I wanted to get going too, but said some stern words to the cast member as we went past him in our log. When the ride was over, the same cast member apologized and said he didn't know why we weren't sitting down. Anyways, that gunk got on my shorts and the same cast member called the Emporium with our names and I was able to pick out any pair of shorts that I wanted. Disney always has done the right thing and always impresses me with their customer service. However, the one poster was right in that lately they have been hiring anybody with a pulse and I fear for the future of the Disney magic and service....

I've never been yelled out but I had a weird experience in New Orleans Square at the mint julep bar. It was kind of sad because it was my all-time favorite place to stop for a drink (I LOVE the juleps!) and had been going there for years, but the last time I went I ordered my mint julep, put the money out on the counter (the change was spread out so I got a visual of the exact change) then the girl picked up the change and walked back out of the ordering area because she was having a conversation with a CM in another part of the building. Then when she returned with my money still in her hand, she went to put it in the register and then said I was short a dime. Of course giving her another dime wasn't the end of the world, but I was positive I'd given her the correct change because I'd counted it out and even put it flat out on the counter...at the time she picked it up, she thought it was the right amount, too. It was obvious she'd dropped it in the back and it seemed weird to walk away with someone's money in the first place. Anyway, I haven't been back since (though I will, I just haven't gotten around to it yet, and I'm sure she's no longer there, anyway)--yet it's the ONLY time I've ever had a cashier LOSE some of the money in the process of putting it in the register! :rotfl2:

While it does seem to spoil the "magic" I guess I would just try to remember that the CM's are people too, and can have good and bad days just like the rest of us. Maybe he/she wasn't feeling good that day, or maybe they had some bad news that morning. You just never know. I'd try to give people the benefit of the doubt.

I agree with the above post. The people they hire these days seem quite disgruntled. I noticed that they are given a paper which lists schedules and times for stores and restaurants throughout the park, but each time I need help most of them respond with "I don't know" or give me a blank look.

I've never been yelled at by a CM but I did run into an extremley rude one this past July. I did write to their guest relations. Here's my e-mail to them:

Dear Sir,
Recently I visited the park with my boyfriend in celebration of my birthday (July 2nd). Every year I celebrate by spending the day at the park(s). Each year has been great except for this year. On my recent trip my boyfriend and I waited in line to ride the new Winnie The Pooh ride. When it came
time to board the ride, the cast member who greeted us was extremley rude. The first thing she asked us was the normal "How many?" and we said "Two." Then we were shocked to hear her say "If you two are seated in the back will you keep your hands off of each other and not make out?" I thought she was joking but she was quite serious and looked angry. We are grown adults and not hormonal teenagers! I was speechless and my boyfriend was angry and we both could not believe she said that to us. As we sat down on the ride she then turned to us and said "Remember, we
have cameras! I can see you two!" Do all cast members greet park guests with such disrespect? I'm sure if any other party were in our shoes, they too would be offended. I don't know if she was grumpy from having a lousy day or if she was disgruntled for having to work the 4th of July weekend,
but her attitude and outbursts were unexcusable. I honestly hope that if my boyfriend and I visit the park in the future that we are not treated with such rudeness again.

They did respond with an apology. Unfortunately, I did not catch the CM's name. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Don't let one rude CM ruin your love for Disney. The chances of you seeing them again should be quite slim. Just try to brush it off and I hope your next visits are more pleasant. :earsboy:

Cast Members are not robots. They have emotions and a personal life too. I always try to think that I don't know what all has happened to that person that day or that week. They may have a seriously ill family member or a personal health problem or they could just be a jerk but I try to give them the benefit of the doubt if it is a brief remark. I too have experienced the "move it, move it" mentality at the Space Mountain loading. I turned to hand my backback to my son who using the chicken exit and they freaked at the five second delay, not in a rude way, but man were they sweating it! I could just tell they were extremely rushed. Glad to know it is a move it or lose it thing. Thanks!

Im applying for a CM position in WDW for the spring. The thing that bugs me is that fact they they do have people there that dont take pride in their work. I know you arent saying all of them are like this but there are a lot. For the past few months solid all i can think of is how im going to be a great CM and am going to have a lot of fun no matter what im doing. I think it takes somebody who has gone many times and knows what to expect from CM to become a great CM.
Im not saying that anyone is attacking college students, but they arent all college students. I have seen some grumpy old men and ladies being in just a cruddy non-disney mood. I dont get how that could be though. You wake up every morning knowing that you get to work in the happiest place on earth. That alone is enough to make me apply.

I have to agree and disagree at the same time with giving CMs the benefit of a doubt. If you're having a bad day, you don't have to smile and make nice talk to guests. However, it is never acceptable to be rude to guests. Even if the guests were rude and disgruntled there are some graceful way to handle them. I've seen CMs handle grumpy, unreasonable guests with finese and those are the way it should be done. Supervisors and security were called and things were handled without CMs raising any voice.

Especially for honest mistakes... no reason for CMs to be rude.

Anyways, that's just my opinion.

I think it is very difficult to deal with the public and I think it is getting harder all of the time. Perhaps Disney needs to provide more training to the Cast Members on what to do with dissatisfied guests or those that have made an honest mistake by going the wrong way etc. I think a lot of their frustration may be that so many guests do not follow their directions and do whatever they darn well please. Thats gotta make it a rough job.

When we were there in July we certainly saw a number of guests that were really rough on the CMs - I'm talking yelling at them, arguing with them, calling them names. It must be really tough to be a CM and try to remain pleasant and professional through all of that.

Having said that, we did have an incident with a CM at Buzz Lightyear. My DH and I got in our car, and my mother (handicapped, but not in a wheelchair) attempted to get in the empty car behind us. Of course since she was behind us, I didn't see what happened next. The CM decided that she couldn't go in that car (don't know why) and made her step back into the loading area, however having a mobility handicap and walking backward are difficult enough at the best of times. This was not the best of times. She fell backward onto the ground. The CM noticed, and completely ignored her. People around her had to help her up. She was a little bruised, and very shaken. I of course didn't know anything about this until the end of the ride when I discovered she was several cars behind us and at the verge of tears. Although she didn't want to cause a fuss I went back and found out the CM's name, then marched to city hall and lodged my first ever complaint.

I did go to city hall and gave them the name of the CM. Canndee at city hall was very nice and had me write out a complant card. She gave me a pass to the priority entrance to splash mountain, but i was so upset I did not use it and left.
I'm handicapped the reason I went to disney is to have fun before my next back surgery. that will take one to two year recovery time. I have been dealing with this for over nine years. Every day is very painful for me and I would never take it out on anyone else. First bad trip to the magical place on earth Im having hard time saying that know.
