Yee Haw Bob Sexual Harrassment

I guess this won't be a popular opinion but as a grown woman I can't imagine being traumatized by a butt grab for 6 years. I can't imagine not telling the perv in no uncertain terms to get his hand off me either. We need to teach women to speak up for themselves and not be victims.

Not unpopular with me. What the accuser described is a butt pinch. Hardly a traumatic incident IMO. I can see being offended by it, but not upset enough to lose “countless” nights of sleep over it.

What I find odd is her insistence that he be fired six (or is it four?) years after allegedly pinching her. If there were any disciplinary action that needed to be taken, who is she to demand that losing his job should be the punishment? Especially six or four years after?

And #metoo does not apply here. She is not a subordinate employee. There is no way that he could further her career. Just the opposite—one would think that Disney employees would be extra nice to podcasters.

Has the picture been released? I understand why she would not want the picture circulating, but wouldn't that be proof? She said she forwarded the photo to Disney.

I think her friend sent the pic to Disney. She hasn’t even seen it, too upsetting for her.

I do not question Bob could have touched someones bum, but the $500 thing sounded a little fishy. That is very undisney to payoff someone like that. They have a policy to not pay anyone, they get sued constantly and fight everything

What's fishy is her stating that she tore up the check. Who tears up a $500 Disney check and keeps going to Disney?

I think others have backed up the reports that the original individual, Michelle, and her champion in this, this Mike Scopa, have asked for others to join them in writing to anyone and everyone in reference to this incident demanding Disney do something.

I don't understand what she's wanting Disney to do, take the law into their own hands? Fire someone who may be innocence? This just doesn't make sense to me and here's why -

1) She posted about a check, photo, correspondence, and witnesses as evidence, but so far has given no proof.

2) This happened at Disney - the place with RFID tracking, cameras, "files" on their guests, legal teams, security, etc. They found inconclusive evidence.

3) Why didn't she call the OCPD? Perhaps OCPD was involved at the time, but if they weren't, why not call them now? She has the evidence.

I'm thinking her file is being gone through with a fine-tooth comb about right now. I hope she's not lying.

So I’m not getting any of this at all. Especially the part of asking people to defend her. How can we do that, we don’t know her? We are supposed to do that by one internet post and ruin Bob’s life and career? I’m not buying it. And her not looking at the picture, why the heck not??

Bob has provided years and years of happiness and laughter to so many people, and if he is reading this, I say a big sorry Bob, that this is happening to you, it just isn’t fair. My son used to work for Disney’s Guest Comm office and I agree with the poster that said in no way Disney would have given her money to shut her up. That would be a clear admission of guilt and set them up for lawsuit. No way.

My question to this girl, if it didn’t happen, is why? Why would you do this to him of all people?

I sincerely hope that a picture of a grope is the most upsetting thing that ever happens to Michelle in her life. Sounds like anything worse might completely demolish her. My wife would have viewed it, downloaded the thing, and printed an 8x10 glossy. Then she'd have gone to Disney Legal, after she'd made a police report. Maybe Michelle is just fragile; but I know too many women who have stood up to far worse.

She didn’t contact the police then (but wishes she had)

I can see some of where the thought process of why this is coming out now, even if I don't support her actions or even believe the situation happened as she's reporting it did
And it's actually the point of the #metoo movement
At the time, she was too traumatized to do anything but she did report it to someone
It was found that it was nothing significant but supposedly, Disney gave her a check for $500. She tore it up and went on about her regular routine/life, etc
The #metoo movement started and she said, you know what, all those years ago, that incident still irks me and I think I'm a victim too. Now I'm encouraged by this movement to be loud and be proud and speak up and make this creep pay.
In some cases, like Aly's with the gymnastic team doc, it's the point of the movement. I'm not sure this is

Me, I'd be more embarrassed to be viewed as that fragile than I'd have been to have had my butt grabbed.

Hold on. Let me see if I have this straight.
  • This happened either six or four years ago.
  • Michelle claims there is a picture that she has not actually seen but it was sent to Disney.
  • Disney cut her a $500 check, didn't make her sign an NDA, and she ripped up the check.
  • Michelle continues to not only do business with the company that supposedly assaulted her but promotes it actively as a business.
  • Either six or four years after this allegedly happened Michelle is starting an email campaign to get Yee-Haw Bob fired while adding no additional corroboration of the event.
Something just doesn't seem right but maybe that is just me.

On a side note, I could have sworn either Mickey Miles or Len Testa had a fund-raising event with Yee-Haw Bob up in the northeast sometime more recent than 4 years ago. If this event did happen I find it a bit odd that either would invite him up for a charity event considering Len and Mike's friendship. I may be mistaken on this last part but it rings a bell for some reason. Do any other Mickey Miles or Disney Dish listeners have any memory of a fundraiser with Yee-Haw Bob.

As for the bold, if there was indeed a check, this may show that it was Disney sending money to someone to appease an upset customer in their usual run of a mill manner, not to hush her up or to compensate her for her incident. Had it truly been for her incident, there is no way they'd have done it without a NDA

Yes. I agree. I think something happened, or at least she perceives that something happened, but at the time, she didn't believe it was an incident worthy of going to the police about, so she contacted Disney instead. Disney did their own investigation which she probably knows very little about, but they cut her a check for her troubles. Now, with all these allegations coming out in Hollywood, she felt encouraged to speak out about her experience.

I have to agree with the poster upthread who said this portends the coming of character pics/meets where the character is behind a railing and no touching at all can occur.

Sigh.

The whole "are you so fragile that you cannot handle" (butt grab) (cat-calling on the street) (etc.) is a whole part of the normalization of being made into an object against one's wishes.
I agree. I don't think you should "handle" that type of behavior, ever. I don't think anyone is suggesting that someone should. Nor do I think anyone should learn to "handle" it. You learn to be strong enough to take care of the situation and fix it. Not accept it.
But should it leave life long scars?

My problem with her including this in with these other horrible allegations is, does it really belong with them?
Even if it did happen, does this belong with what these other men have done to women, men who held their power over these women and used it to abuse them.
None of those things occurred here.

Wasn't that the Dis Unplugged team? http://www.disunplugged.com/2011/07/05/yehaa-bob-brings-some-disney-magic-to-upstate-new-york/

This may have been the chain of events, but why ask for people to contact Disney now and demand he be fired? I mean, it’s one thing to put it out there that you were violated, but it’s a whole other ball of wax to encourage people to Email somebody’s employer and ask them to fire that person.

I know this much—Disney does a ton of video surveillance. I tend to think that after her complaint 4 or 6 years ago, they would have kept it on this man to make sure he wasn’t pinching the female guests. No way would they want that happening.
