Day 4 (Part 2) - Monday, November 17, 2003
CAST OF CHARACTERS:
Yecats - Me, myself and I.
Me is Single, 33 (however, other two personalities - myself is about 10 years old and an advid SM freak and the I personality may be about 60 years especially after getting off of the ToT).
Also on board is my new Canon ZR65 Digital Videocamera nicknamed: Handycam, as it was always in my hand.
PLAN FOR THE DAY:
1. Enjoying PORS in a.m. (Part 1)
2. Boatwrights for Breakfast (Part 1)
3. MGM
4. Dinner at Hollywood & Vine
5. Epcot & Mission Space (Part 3)
6. Oops now I'm sick and dizzy (Part 3)
12:07 was the technical time that I had walked into MGM. For some reason, I am not an MGM fan. The park is just okay in my opinion. I did a bit of shopping around Hollywood Blvd area and then went into the Great Movie Ride which, yes I know how sappy it can be, I just love to ride. So took great footage with Handycam and off down Sunset. Okay here's the dilemma, I always have to talk myself into riding ToT and RnRC. I decide I will survive Rock N'Roller Coaster which had a short wait time (most people having lunch). I do get anxious waiting for this ride simply because the takeoff takes my breath away and I always have to tell myself to breathe. So survived the ride thanks to Aerosmith and decide its time for me to hate the Tower of Terror.
NOTE: There was an elderly woman who several months ago rode the ToT for her 500th time. I am not this crazy.
I usually do ride this ride at least once per trip. I really love the que area but really am too embarrassed to chicken out before getting on that darned elevator. I am now loaded on the elevator. Past history tells me that I am on it with at least two other women who are going to scream very loudly and are usually seated next to me. Up we go and the anxiety begins. As the drop sequencing begins, history proves right and I am in the elevator with two other screaming me-mes (sp.?). Yes thats right at some point I couldn't tell who was screaming louder myself of the woman next to me. When we finally stop and the tortured ride has ended, the I personality is in full bloom and suddenly I look like I am 60 years old. I have yet to get off of this ride and not have wobbly knees and I always leave chastizing myself as to why I ride in the first place and trying to calm my heart from beating so fast. Never again.
As I had missed the B&TB show I decided to come back for a later show and possibly attempt to ride RnRC again. Instead I decide to go and hit Who Wants to be a Millionaire. I find this so fun to play and walked in right before it was set to begin. Two people got to play and both made it past the 32,000 mark. Then walked into One Man's Dream and watched that really sappy movie which always leaves me ready to cry. Okay I need something funny. Alright time to head over to Muppets 3D, but spotted Pizza Planet first, so sidetracked for Pizza. Now I am out $8.60 and headed up to the second floor where I can eat in peace. I sat next to a window which overlooked the Muppets theater where in a 15 minute span I watched about 300 people walk into the theater (where in the world did all of these people come from) and all of a sudden there was a long line outside of the theater. So I took my time eating and had the 2nd floor of this restaurant to myself. Very nice and the pizza wasn't bad either.
Okay, I then walked into Muppets 3D at the end of the preshow. Oops missed one of the best preshows will have to resee it before the end of the day. Watched and filmed the movie (always makes me laugh even when I can't see it in 3D) then came out and noticed three Green Army men from Buzz Lightyear. There was one family who had gathered all 3 of them together to take pictures and it was so cute because the Army guys were doing these funny poses and really hamming it up. So walked up the former New York Street which is really undergoing a lot of changes and filmed then decided to wait and see the Little Mermaid and filmed that as well.
Walked out and everybody was waiting for the parade. It was right at 3:30 and the crowds were pretty thick around the Brown Derby area. I purchased a small box of popcorn and a bottle of water and waited for the parade to head up the street. There was a CM guy who was the MC for this area (he was dressed like a security officer) of the parade who was playing around with the crowd. I found him to be completely annoying and he just kept on going all through the parade. When the parade made it to my area, I stood up on a wall that was about a foot and a half off of the ground and was standing on it with at least 40 other people. This gave me a pretty good advantage to film as my line of sight was now just over peoples heads so I have nice film of this parade as well with the exception of that annoying CM MC announcing the parade.
As the crowd parted, I headed over to watch Indiana Jones as it has nearly been a decade since the last time. The preshow is really cute to watch and most I managed to film. Then onto ride Star Tours which for some strange reason had the longest wait that I had up until that time (waited in line for about 25 minutes). I then decided to walk over and ride RnRC so waited in the standby line which was at least 20 plus minutes at this point. However, had a nice conversation with the group in front of me from Canada and before you knew it, I was in that limo zooming into obvilion. Well I didn't have enough time to see Beauty so I will have to come back and see that another day.
TIP:
Schedule any Fantasmic Dinner Package to save time and for the simple convenience of not having to wait in long lines to see Fantasmic.
I had a 5:20 ressie for Hollywood & Vine which was also came with a Fantasmic Dinner Package Ticket. I arrived on time and was seated within 5 minutes. I was seated against the wall to the left and instructed to see if I could locate the hidden mickey which I did within a minute (thanks to previous notes from these boards). I wasn't overly hungry but decided I didn't want to stand in line for Fantasmic so kept the ressie. I had a really great waitress who was just fun to talk to. Before you knew it she asked me where I was from and as I stated New Orleans, the table to my left all looked at me as the family was from Biloxi, Mississippi (only 85 miles away). So I had a number of interesting conversations. The family from MS was there due to the Military offer (Go Kessler Airforce) which after talking with them was really a one of its kind deal. They asked me if I wanted to join them for Fantasmic but I declined as I am sure that they wanted to keep it as a family thing (they had 3 very yound boys and their Airforce Dad was doing a great Stitch impression to keep them laughing)and I didn't really want to be a 6th wheel. However, thanks you guys for the great conversation and I truly hope that you get to return soon.
As H&V is a self serve buffet, I decided to chew on some salad, bread, boiled shrimp, primerib and mac and cheese. Then headed over to the dessert bar and had a few chocolate torts and mousse thingys as well as some ice cream. Actually felt sort of sick after this but we will discuss this in part 3. Well my waitress had gotten to know everything about everyone within 4 tables of my table and shared everything she learned. It was actually quite cute how everything came out. They all learned that I was there solo and before you knew it several women approached me to say that they only wished they could do what I am (most had kids or husbands which it looked like they wanted a few hours away from). Around 6:20 time to leave and head over to Fantasmic. Left $30 and walked to the special entrance for the Fantasmic package over by the darkroom garage area at the front of the park.
I haven't done the Fantasmic Dinner Package before and would encourage all to this for the convenience of it. I have always waited in line for Fantasmic (sometimes waiting an hour and 15 minutes). It was very interesting to walk the back pathway to Fantasmic which by the way is not a short walk. As I came up behind the Beauty and Beast arena, the back door to that area was open and you could see various costumes hanging on a rack and other props. Then headed up the hill where a CM was waiting and forwarded me to an area they were still seating. AT this point most of the arena was full but the CM's were still loading others in with 15 minutes before the show is to begin.
TIP:
Fantasmic is a must see show for everyone in any family.
The show began exactly on time and the arena had been completely full for the last 5 minutes. I truly love Fantasmic and was so wowwed the first time I saw it and still am today. Of course I have the full 30 minutes of film by Handycam for future reference. I realized that you have to love those CM's playing the characters on the "Love Floats" as I call them. I wouldn't be as graceful as Belle dancing with the Beast as the float is crossing the lake area. I would've been swimming in the water and killed by the fire very easily, it would've been a very sad scene so everytime I see them, I have to give them a kudos for a job well done. Well I seemed to cram a lot into this day, let me see what else I could possible do.
