Day 1 - Friday, November 14, 2003 (Part 1)

CAST OF CHARACTERS:
Yecats - Me, myself and I.
Me is Single, 33 (however, other two personalities - myself is about 10 years old and an advid SM freak and the I personality may be about 60 years especially after getting off of the ToT).

Also on board is my new Canon ZR65 Digital Videocamera nicknamed: Handycam, as it was always in my hand.

WYNDHAM PALACE RESORT AND SPA DTD:
When I decided to add onto my FTP I did ask WDTC what a night would cost to stay at PORS without any additional tickets to Disney parks and I was quoted $133. Decided that was too high so I decided to bid on priceline. For about $75 I won the Wyndham in DTD for my first night. So now I find myself in the front of the Wyndham in Dowtown Disney after being deposited by Mears. I go and checkin which took all of about 10 minutes. The front desk clerk asked me if I wanted a Kingbed which I did and then she asked if I would take a handicapped room. I stated that I didn't mind. So she hands me my room key to room #586 on the 5th Floor. Grab my luggage and off to room #586.

Wow, it really happened to me. I go to let myself in the room and open the door. What did they give me. I must be in the wrong room because this is a minisuite. Yes a very nice minisuite. The trade off was that this is one of the few rooms that does not come with a balcony. The room overlooks the front driveup/dropoff area. However, the room has a nice size living room and office area with 27" tv. The king bedroom is off to one side, has a bar and another 27" tv with cable as well as a large armoire, 2 lamps and a large safe. The bathroom was very large with an open closet area to the right when you walk in which also had an iron and ironing board there. There was a very large shower that you can roll a wheelchair into to take a bath and still have room in front and in back of you. The bathroom is very spacious and clean.

I was in the room before noon and decided to lounge around, take a cat nap and watch some cable as I woke up at 5:00 a.m. and am only going off of about 4 hours of sleep.

DOWNTOWN DISNEY:
Around 2:00 I decided I was somewhat hungry and it was time to go to Downtown Disney. Walked through the recreation island of the hotel to take some film of the hotel and pool areas and then walk out the back way and cross the street to DTD. Decided to walk to Cap N' Jacks for lunch. Did not have a PS but was a walk in and seated at the bar. Wasn't overly hungry so decided to have an appetizer.

TIP:
Do not order the spinach and artichoke dip unless you really like artichokes as there is very little spinach in the dip.

I did eat almost all of it although I wasn't happy with the taste. Also ordered a large coke. Total of bill with tip $14.00. Done with late lunch decided to window shop. Walked all around the marketplace looking at items and cost to determine what I may eventually purchase. Can't tell you how I wished I had a ton of money as I could've easily have purchased the entire x-mas shop. At around 5:30 time to stop for a small box of popcorn and some people watching. I did end up by purchasing a few small gifts.

Around 6:15 decided to go back to hotel and go swimming. The pool was nice and I had a brief swim followed by some time in the hot tub. I sat here and had several different conversations with people from Canada, PA and FL. Went back to room around 8:30 and decided to order dinner in. Salad and dessert with ice tea which totaled around $21. Then time for bed and enjoying the minisuite.

RECAP:
Wyndham Palace - great resort and convenient to DTD.
DTD - so many cute things, so little money.

Stay tuned for Day 2 - I didn't expect to ever hear that.

Wonderful trip reports ~ Thanx for sharing.

Wyndham Palace sounds like a great hotel option. Thanks for sharing your reports. :)

Again, I am off to read more...

I am the exact same way. I would love to buy the whole Christmas store too! I probably could buy the whole home/bath store to boot. Downtown Disney would be a very dangerous place for me if I had any money. But since I never do, I just drool and salivate.

Kudos to you for scoring the upgrade at the Wyndham Palace. An aquaintance stayed there six months ago and loved it. Now a whole crew is planning to stay there. See what a little word of mouth can do!?!
