Day 7 (part 2) - Wednesday, November 17, 2004:
CAST OF CHARACTERS:
MOM - (k/n/a Donald Duck) 57 year old somewhat disney nut.
ME - 34 year old DISNEY NUT who has had to wait one full year for her Disney fix.
TODAY'S AGENDA:
1. Day in transition - still transitioning
2. Magic Kingdom - Yippee, had a ton of fun
3. Epcot - Donald having fits
Now I've returned to BW studio room, decided to swim at Luna Park and returned to the room where Donald just finished doing the laundry. You would think that a pinacoloda would make her happy but no the little attitude slips out. The drink is too sweet, how much did you pay, that's too much for a drink I can't tolerate. Can I kill a duck? I'm thinking about it.
Anyway, a short while later and after a bath and drinking 2 pinacolodas (which in my opinion were fantastic), were off to Epcot via the Friendship boats. How wonderful these boats are. We got another nice experience on the ride there as two girls (between 4-8 yrs old) asked the captain and assistant to sign their autograph books. Now personally I've never seen anyone other than a character CM sign and autograph but it was really sweet to see the Captain and assistant give theirs.
Entered Epcot through its gateway. Now this is a transition day that was planned in the opposite way (Epcot during day, MK at night). However, right before heading out on this trip, the calendar was changed with regards to Spectromagic and the only night we could view it is tomorrow night (we were supposed to be in MK tomorrow during day not night so had to change plans). As such, we were going to eat dinner at Crystal Palace tonight but cancelled this as had to change parks so no dinner plans at present.
We decided to walk directly to Ellen's Energy Adventure as Donald was in full complaint form as to how we haven't managed to stop to see this yet as we are on Day 7 of the trip. You know that car commercial where the kid and his parents are listening/watching the the car salesman but the kid only hears blah, blah, blah, Free Shrek DVD, blah, blah? Yes, anyone? Well this is the moment I was having on the walk over listening to my mother gripe. The second thought I was having afterward was along the line of a cartoon character taking a hammer to Donald's head and laughing hysterically. Maybe I need another drink?
Well we make it to EEA and mom gets to enjoy the show/ride which she always loves. Afterwards we rode SSE and stopped for quick burgers/fries at Electric Umbrella then rode Test Track two more times. We get off and I, of course, have Don King hair and Donald is just griping some more (this is the real reason why I'm looking forward to another solo vacation so I won't have to hear blah, blah, blah, blah anymore).
We then start the tour around WS as most of FW is now closed (7:30). As we pass Mexico I suggest we ride El Rio. Now I don't really like this ride but I do like the part where you go through the restaurant/volcano area and think how they could really improve the ride in general. Every trip this is a one time ride only like IASW, ToT, LS, Imagination, etc. because I can't take it twice but Donald couldn't take it at all and went off on the IASW dolls inside. Thought about drowning the duck in the waterway - blah, blah. At this point I informed my mom that if she didn't leave the TUDE behind she could walk back to the room as she was putting a damper on the vacation which has been nice so far.
AFterwards, I enjoyed a nice quiet walk to Norway (mom lagging behind) to ride Maelstrom twice. This is one of mom's favorites so it always puts her in a good mood. After this we enjoyed the rest of the walk around the world stopping in various shops to look around or listen/watch music/performers. We waited by the Inter. gateway for Illuminations and watched the first 6 minutes there before boarding the Friendship boats for the return back to BW. We finished watching Illuminations from the back of the Friendship boats as we were pulling out (this is a nice memory as it really is a spectacular view without having to pay for the special Illum. cruise).
As we are first off at BW, we head on over to the Sweets shop for some ice cream and rice krispy treats. There were at least 2 BW performers doing shows in this area and we stopped and watched them for a bit then fed some ducks and did a bit of shopping in the area before heading back to the room to shut it all down for the night.
I had to remind Donald that it would be a long day tomorrow as its our last there and were ending it at MK because of Spectromagic.
