I'm trying a yeast free diet--
any one know of any yeast free breads--
or does anyone have any good recipes

thanks

The only ones I can think of would be quick breads, biscuits and Irish soda bread.

Anything with a "starter" is going to contain at least wild yeast, I think.

LOL...sorry..when I first saw the title..I read it too fast and thought it said
"Ya breast feed?"

no answer for yeast bread...lol

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/3 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 cups buttermilk
1/4 cup butter, melted

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and baking soda. Blend egg and buttermilk together, and add all at once to the flour mixture. Mix just until moistened. Stir in butter. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake for 65 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the bread comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Wrap in foil for several hours, or overnight, for best flavor.

do you think this recipe would work in my bread machine????

Try looking at the gluten free section of your local grocery store. Most times something that is gluten free is also yeast free.

no, it would not work in the bread machine. quick breads like this are stirred into a wet batter, then immediately baked. traditional yeast bread doughs are mixed, allowed to raise, punched down, shaped, raised again and then baked.

my MIL makes gluten free bread, but it calls for yeast, I haven't searched out GF/yeast free options as it's not an issue for us. The only way I know of to go yeast free is with quick breads or certain flatbreads.

I thought most unleavened, Jewish breads, like they make at Passover have to be yeast-free breads, like flatbreads. That's what unleavened means. I'm sure there are several good recipes for unleavened breads.

my bread machine has a quick bread setting-- where it just mixes and bakes --no rising-- I think I'll try it and see how it turns out.

Cool!!! I had no idea bread machines had that option! Of course, mine is 10 years old and makes the funny tall square loaves. But it won't die, so I keep using it. Most of the time I just have it make the dough then I shape it into a traditional loaf and bake it in the oven.
