Has anyone gone to the yearly owners meetings? Where are they held and when? Are they worth attending? Are there open mics where you can express concerns or problems? Also are they for all resorts or does each resort have its own individual assoc. meeting? Any info would be helpful....thanks

There is now only one meeting for all. This year it's on Dec. 9th. I don't know the location yet. Most of the meeting is internal stuff but they do have some time set aside for questions. Most that have attended will probably say that it's not worth attending again.

I've been to several Annual Meetings. While I would not make a special trip just to attend, if you are there already I would encourage you to attend. They are entertaining and sometimes provide some good info about things to come.

It typically lasts about an hour with time for personal contact with the board members afterwards for a short while in addition to the open mike opportunity.

And you can meet WebmasterDoc in person.

Hmm. tempting! I'll be there at that time, staying at OKW from 12/6 to 12/11. where have the locations been in past meetings?

Hi Towncrier! We talked awhile back on a "any from NE Ohio" thread, we talked about "Ernie Anderson" aka Ghoulardi and pierogies, (so you can guess where I'm from...).

For a number of years, they were held at the BW Convention center. The 2007 meeting was held at the CSR Convention center and last year it was back at BW.

In the early years there was a separate meeting for each resort and some were even held at the resort (like HH was at Community Hall). A few years ago they started combining the meetings into one event for practical reasons.

The meetings themselves are tightly scripted events with the board reading from the script. The DVD and DVD Board meetings usually take no more than 15 minutes for each (the same members are on both boards). No input or questions from the members are allowed for these meetings. They include voting on the budget and dues for the coming year. After the "official" business has been conducted there is a more casual meeting conducted by Jim Lewis who introduces the rest of the board as well as the GMs for each resort. The treasurer will give a report and answer questions about the budget and each GM will offer an overview of the past year and expectations for the coming year for each resort. Usually, a video presentation from Disney and DVC will be offered with announcements of future plans. Following this, the open-mike session is conducted with opportunity for members to ask questions or make comment from the audience. The board and GMs will stay around after that to meet personally with interested individuals.

I went to my first meeting last year and perhaps I am the exception...but planned another trip this year around the next meeting.

I attended the first session of the day (with a start time of around 11:00 give or take) which was very scripted and no interaction between attendees and the official business at hand. Attendance was very low to this session but I felt some points of discussion were covered in a deeper depth fashion than the second meeting/member session held later in the day.

Then there was a short break for lunch or whatever and then the large members meeting. Don't let the boards fool you, the room was jammed packed...way more attendees than I anticipated. They went over some of the same discussion points as the first session but not to the same degree of information (personally I was glad I went to both).

Then after the more formal business was covered it was Q&A time which I found to be extrememly interesting. I think it was a great way to spend a few hours of my trip to stay connected to a 'club' that I have a lot of money invested into.

BTW, the second meeting/member meeting was kicked off with excitement and balloons dropping from the ceiling and a great 'mood setter' for the meeting.
