Year to be Here --- Universal New Announcements

I'm slightly confused about something on the Universal page in question. It says Spider-Man is reopening in March, but I thought the refurbs were happening after hours. Has this changed? Just curious! :)

Yes, it is shutting down Feb. 8

It just says that this particular show will be running at least all year. Since it is most likely a 100 year anniversary show, it makes sense to do a new version next year. It would get boring just to have the same show year after year.

Hopefully that's the case! :)

Yup, the plan is to have it run all summer and then select nights throughout the rest of the year. I guess depending on how popular it is will determine how much more often we see it.
I'm thinking weekends in the fall and maybe...just maybe...a HHN edition like the other show had a few years ago.

I'm especially excited about the new Spiderman attraction updates, the Despicable Me attraction & the night-time show. But i've read on other forums that the night-time show is only going to be temporary, throughout the summer & on selected nights until the end of the year?! Can anyone confirm whether it is only going to be temporary or long term? :)

i believe it will be ongoing and not a temp thing.

when the parks have earlier closing, it is not dark at that point.
that night time show wouldn't be very possible then.

there are dates during the year (not including summer) that have longer park hours.
i am guessing those nights are the 'selected nights' that will have the evening show.

Can't wait!!! I hope all these 2012 new attractions will be open at the beginning of June!!! (6/7-6/14).

I just hope it plays more often than Universal 360. That seemed to show only in the very middle of peak summer and during Christmas hell week for a while, which are not times I prefer to go.

We are going the last week of April so I am hoping the nighttime show will be open then as it says spring!

Just wondering if there is a specific date confirmed for when Spider-Man is re-opening after its refurb...we`re going to be there in mid-March and don`t want to miss it!!

Thanks,
MouseGirl

My question HOW DO THEY DO IT!
I can't believe how quickly Universal gets things up and going and the amount of change they do: SO QUICKLY! I feel like they just announced Despicable me.

All that's been said is early March. I don't think they know exactly and they might give a better idea once they actually start.

You probably won't see an exact date since something can happen causing delays and if Universal didn't make that date, you'd have lots of people upset. So...they stick with saying "spring 2012" or "early March"...that's about all you're going to hear officially.

Thanks - that makes sense...will keep our fingers crossed that it has re-opened by the time of our trip!

I can't wait to see ALL of it! Love love love Blue Man Group, Spiderman will be updated, love minions, and the water show sounds wonderful.

We're going to have FUN this fall when we go!:banana::banana::banana:

I totally agree!

At this point, my October trip to Disneyland is off. So, I was thinking about making a long trip out to Orlando to do like 4 days at Universal and 6-8 at WDW in either October (a part of me really wants to try HHN, but another part of me doesn't think I could handle it since I hate getting scared plus I will be going solo, and something about walking around the park (and the houses) solo just does not sound fun) or early Dec. However, I really want to see this show!

I hope that it runs DAILY during the summer (like, the whole summer, not the peak in July. So, right around June 1st until the end of Aug) and then every weekend (fri, sat, sun) for the rest of the year with extra dates for holidays and stuff tossed in.

It always seemed so pointless to be to spend the time and money to create a nighttime show (like Universal 360) and then not to run it except during very limited times. It was made even worse that they never really mentioned it on the site at all, so guests had no idea when it was planned to happen.

I really hope Universal takes a page from the Disneyland website when it comes to the park hours on the website. I would like to see not only the park hours, but showtimes, parade times, and the evening showtime as well. This will really help when it comes to planning a trip

it needs to be dark for the night time show.
that won't be an issue during the summer as the parks have longer hours.

maybe if attendance in the fall months increased, there would be a need to have extended park hours. until it does, it will probably have the early closing times.

i could see it being done in a darkside way for hhn as the parks are open until midnight, 1:00 am or 2:00 am.

when the Universal 360 was performed, it was listed on the website.
park hours are listed on the UO calendar. not as far in advance as most of us would like, but they do keep it current.

you should try hhn, you know you wanna...........:rolleyes1
you might get addicted to it like others have............

don't think twice about going solo to hhn.
i have been doing that for years.
doing the darkside or motherland alone is really a lot of fun.
i do it also each year and planned it around HHN.

I am way past thinking twice about HHN. I think I have passed the thinking about it 20 times mark :lmao:

Anyways, your right about it needing to be dark for the shows. Thats why I was thinking about it just running on the weekends during the off season and maybe just adding an hour to the park hours to ensure it was dark enough.

As far as HHN goes, I will keep thinking about it. I have done WDW and DL solo before a few times and I love it! However, there is something about just doing HHN solo that increases the fear level. I mean, I think I should start watching more horror movies first without getting so scared I have to turn them off before I attempt going to a park were people are in my face trying to scare me to death :scared1:

When I go to Universal Hollywood this summer, I intend to do the haunted house thing they have year around there. I have heard it is just like a HHN house that last about 6-8 minutes. If I can make it through it, and enjoy it, then I will most likely give it a shot. If not, I doubt it.

Oh come on now...HHN isn't THAT bad! This will be my ninth year and if you are going to attend, I will come over and go with you. Often...DISers meet at HHN and walk around together...you could do the same. We won't let anything get you.

if you go when i do, i'll meet up with youse too!

hey, wouldn't it be kewl if you got Metro and me at the same time......

you would not be lonely, believe me.

Hopefully that's the case! :)
X2!
My son is ABSOLUTELY PUMPED about the new additions! (So much that he said "You know what, this will be even better than Jimmy Newtron and Jaws combined!"
He loves parades...ANY PARADE, ANYWHERE!!! ;)

This news made my day. Just switched my end of Feb one night stay at RPR to a two night stay and upgraded to Club Level (have stayed at all three hotels but have never done Club Level before). Will definitely check out the new Blue Man Group show as I love the one based in BOSTON,MA and would always take people there for their "first time"

Bringing g/f, her daughter and daughter's husband (with 2 year old grandbaby) Figure I'll drive up on Sunday, do some shopping at Downtown Disney. Go to lunch at Ethos in Orlando (incredible vegan restaurant and everyone going is vegetarian or vegan). Check in at RPR and go to Blue Man at 6. Do combo of IOA and US on Monday and use Tuesday to go back and do everyone's favorite rides.
