Yeah, that was embarassing

I did the same thing at a drive up bank teller. I completed my transactions, tossed the tube on the seat and drove off :o

Wasn't it here on the Dis that a man posted that he had gone to the grocery store and didn't realize he had his little girl's hair bow in his hair? I believe he said something about how he had removed it and his hands were full so he stuck it in his hair. Then his wife asked him to get something at the store and he totally forgot about it. :lmao: I loved that story!

:lmao: Oh my gosh, that's hilarious! I can picture myself doing that!

I'm sure that I do, but I can't think of one at the moment.

I will share a "distracted stranger" story, though. Our local supermarket has drive-up service available. You pay for your groceries through the normal check-outs and someone will wheel to a loading zone out front so that you can drive around and pick it up. The other day while I was cashing out, an employee came in to say that she had been waiting for at least 20 minutes with an order, and no one had picked it up. An older employee said, "Oh, that happens occasionally. Eventually they'll notice and come back into the store."

So this person most likely did a lot of grocery shopping, paid for everything, and then drove off without the groceries. And it's happened to others before.

I've done that. Then I had to drive 45 miles from our house back to the store to get them.

However I'm not as bad as my friend who left her daughter at a garage. She dropped her car off at the garage to be repaired and got in her friends car. Her friend said "Well, arn't you going to bring your daughter?!!":rotfl:

I've got two stories. Just the other day I forgot a bag at the register at the store. I had to wait on my dad so I was still there when she came running up to me to give me my bag.

And this will make you feel better. About 17 years ago, my nephew was just a week or so old. He and his mom and dad lived two houses from me, and grandparents lived between us. Well me, about to have a baby, and my oldest, and my brother in law was outside enjoying the evening. I on the spur of the moment decided we were doing to mcdonalds for an ice cream cone. I invite the brother in law, my sister in law wasn't home, I don't remember why. Anyway, I hop in my car and he gets into his car and follows us.
We get the ice cream and sit in the play area so my oldest and his oldest could play. About a minute after we sit down, we realize something is wrong. It took us a second before realizing he left andy at home. He felt horrible and I am so glad there were no police around because by the way he left, he would have been stopped. Luckily it took about 2 minutes at most to get home. He brought andy back with him and still feels bad about it. Andy hadn't noticed though, he was still sleeping peacefully in his crib when his dad got there.

But sometimes you're just distracted right?

You all have "I was so distracted I did so and so" stories, right???

:rotfl2:

I'm not sure if I can use the "I was so distracted" defense for this one, but here is a "I don't know where my mind was" story.:)

We were traveling cross-country and it was the last morning of the last hotel we stayed at. I figured I'd get a jump on things and take my suitcase and a cooler down to the car while other family members were getting ready.

I walked down a long corridor to the elevator, pushed the down button, and got in the elevator. I pushed a button to go down, the doors closed, and I waited...and waited...and waited. The elevator didn't move. I pressed the button that opened the doors, pressed the button that shut the doors, then pressed the down button again. Again, nothing. I started to worry that the elevator was malfunctioning and that I might get stuck in it or something. So, I got out and walked down four flights of stairs, out to the car, and then back up the stairs to our hotel room.

When I got back to the room, my husband took a few things out to the car. When he returned, I told him that I forgot to tell him not bother with the elevator because it wasn't working. He looked at me like I was crazy, and told me that the elevator worked fine.:confused3

My husband had a few business calls to make, so my daughter and I went downstairs to get some breakfast. We got in the elevator (it worked for my husband, so it must be okay) I pressed a button to go down, but nothing happened. It was at that point that it hit me that I had been pressing the button with our floor number on it, NOT the button to go down to the lobby.:rotfl: I did this not once, but three times. I started laughing when I realized my stupid mistake. My daughter thought I had completely lost my mind. By the time the elevator reached the lobby, we were both in stitches. I'm sure everyone in the breakfast room thought we were totally nuts.:rotfl2:

Of course, I wasn't going to tell my husband about my brain lapse, but my daughter made sure to relay the story.:headache:

Must be a lot of this"distraction" going around. I was on another forum this morning where a guy posted that he came home from work, took his socks off and went into the bathroom to throw them in the hamper, and dropped them both in the toilet:scared1::lmao:

Not quite the same, but last week my parents sent me a new charger for my laptop (they have Dells and so do I and they had an extra charger so when mine had a major short in the wire, I called them and asked for it.) I opened the package, took the charger out, had the charger in one hand and the package in the other, and went to throw away the package. Instead, I threw away the charger. Luckily, I realized what I'd done immediately.

Most definitely a *chortle* from this fast food worker...

I've had people buy coffee and forget it. And never come back!

Way too many people use the LAME excuse of "I forgot my wallet" when it comes time to pay.... :lmao:

I went out to pick up some Kentucky Fried Chicken for dinner last night. I went through the drive-thru, ordered a bucket, paid, got my change and my receipt and drove home.

Then I realized I forgot to wait for my dang chicken!

I tried to make my husband go back and get it for me but he made it do it. That walk back in the store was so embarassing. They did have the order sitting there for me but I could see them ALL snickering!

But sometimes you're just distracted right?

:rotfl2:

This is totally something I would do!

You are not the only one ;)
I work in the drive thru and there are many MANY forgetful people there.
Most of the time it we just keep the food and expect them to come back.
