ok..i lied...i have a vent here...
i work at a computer training center. i am the receptionist...and i work for a giant jerk (that was as clean as i could be without being censored)!!
this man has absolutely no respect for anyone here. he's arrogant, although you wouldn't think that looking at him. he's a weasel. we have a total of 5 employees in this office. myself, the GM (him), an account manager, and 2 instructors. he doesn't communicate with anyone but me, and that's not saying much. he'll tell me at least when he's leaving but that's it. the other account manager HATES him. and she doesn't hate anyone under normal circumstances. he's very inconsiderate. here's an example: yesterday...he tells me that he has a doctor's appointment scheduled for this morning and may not be in until noon. once a week, we take our tech classes out to lunch and chat with them about their jobs, etc...well, today was his day for tech lunch. i asked him what if he's not here in time for tech lunch? he says that the other account manager will have to take them. i know for a fact that he won't say a word to her, so i mention it to her, just a forewarning. well, he doesn't come in until noon and he never called her or asked her if she could even do the lunch! not an e-mail. nothing. she was able to do the lunch, but don't you think he should have said something to her? she was LIVID. she went off on him when she got back about the situation. all's he could say was "you were busy when i left last night." ok...has he ever heard of e-mail at least? i am not his messenger...i HATE being the middle man in this!!! we're having difficulty with a particular class this week. the students are NOT happy with the instructor (he's a guest instructor not one of our regulars)...well, he, of course, had conveniently scheduled a doctor's appointment this morning AFTER he found out how unhappy this class was. this was the class he was to be taking to lunch today. hmmm...so the other gal and one of our other instructors take them to lunch and talk about the situation and what we can do to fix it. the two of them work hard at rebuilding that trust with those clients. and they work at the solution this afternoon. do all the research, etc. when the instructor approaches the GM about talking to the class before they left, the GM looks at this guy like he's an idiot...which he's not. he's one of the greatest men (aside from my hubby!) that i have ever known. he takes pride in his job and has a wonderful rapport with students. the GM informs him that he will follow up with the students at a later time so that he's not in the classroom discussing this in front of the (bad) instructor. (it's not that the instructor is bad, he just didn't present the info to the liking of this crowd). he didn't want the instructor to feel bad. well, the whole class and the instructor was well aware of this, even in on the solution! isn't it better to face the situation head on instead of allowing time to pass and the clients to feel worse about their experience? well, so then our instructor asks the GM if he even wants to know what research he's done to help resolve this today. sure, says the GM and proceeds to look at this man as if he doesn't even exist. that's how he is to everyone. it's horrible. i won't willingly leave my job, unless he pushes me over the edge one day. so far, that hasn't happened. but i hate not being respected...and i hate the way my co-workers are treated. we've tried to get our president to see what's going on down here, but unfortunately, the GM is the only one actually bringin in money right now. even with his crappy way of selling. he sells computer training and he barely knows how to turn his computer on...
i'm glad that my desk is way far away from the happenings in the back of the office. it's a regular three ring circus around here. no one likes him. and he wonders why i don't laugh and joke around with him like i do everyone else...
ok...my vent's over for the moment...thanks for listening...have a good night!!!
