Yea!!! A Pod Squad Cruise is in the works -- Thanks Pete!

I think I may have to skip this one since it'll be right before the last module exams for my first year of university. It's also not worth the cost to go for a week from London and I don't want to miss more uni than I have to, I probably wouldn't be able to afford to go on the cruise let alone afford the airfare, my mum would probably say no and I'll hopefully be heading to Florida for the ICP in June/July. I really want to meet you guys, but alas, knowing my luck it won't work. If I managed to win a spot, then I may reconsider but chances are, I won't. :sad1:

Mind you, if the podcast crew wants to do a meet at WDW during the summer months, then I'm good with that!

I really want to go...I'm just not sure that we could swing it! The discounts would have to be pretty significant in order for us to be able to go. We're already saving our pennies for our trip to China. Here's hoping that there will be other meets that I will be able to get to!

I'll keep my ears open...maybe the prices will be better than I think and we'll be able to find a way to go! :)

OK, since the cruise is only 4 days, do we want to get a group together to go to the parks afterward?

Kim

P.S. Made my deposit this morning. :yay: :woohoo:  :dance3:

Hey Gang

Below is some pricing we are currently getting for this cruise. This is based on the limited number of group space staterooms DCL has allowed us to hold. The more people that book the more staterooms they will let us hold - so if you think you want to go please book soon so we can get more space and lock in the best price.

Something to think about - a small deposit now will secure your space on the ship at the best price possibe. If you find you can't go you can cancel before the final payment is due. We will send out reminders well before the final balance due date so you have time to cancel if you have to.

Also, we will be giving away a number of staterooms on this cruise. I can't give details yet as to how many but you may be lucky enough to win a cruise.

Please keep in mind these prices can change as we sell out of group space and as the ship fills up.

You have to book through Dreams Unlimited Travel to get these rates and shipboard credits and to be invited to any PodCast events.

Thanks
John

Oh, wow - those prices are much better. I got a quote last night for a Cat 5 & it was 4,984.12 for the 4 of us. I even mentioned in the notes section that it was for the DIS Unplugged cruise. I'll have to email the agent back :)

ETA: Oh, duh... I should've actually read the agent notes. $4984 is w/ airfare. It's much closer to what John listed above w/o the airfare.

ETA again: Thanks, Tracy!

Oh those prices are enticing...

Dang it China!! Figure out your referral timeline so I can plan accordingly!!!! ;)

How much is the deposit?

How about 4 people (2 adults and 1 six-year-old and 1 four-year-old) and we have some friends who are a family of 5 (2 adults and 1 six-year-old and 1 four-year-old and a 1 year old). They probably have to have two cabins, right?

Corey set-up a special page for quotes on this sailing - https://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/cruise/calculator/podcast-cruise.cfm

Remember - you are under no obligation when requesting a quote so go ahead and make a request so you can see the cost. You will have a few days to decide if you want to make the deposit or not.

Parties of 5 will need at least a category 4 stateroom or higher of they can book 2 staterooms.

Random cruise question time:

Is there a Pirate night on the 4 night cruise? Some friends just did a 7 night and said one of their favorite things was Pirate night & that my boys would love it.

Is it just showers in the bathrooms - no tubs?

The stateroom descriptions say "single convertible sofa" - that's single as in one sofa, not single as in the size of the fold out bed, right? Meaning, both my boys will be able to sleep on the sofabed?

Sorry for the questions...This will be my first cruise

Yes, there is a pirate night on the third night of a 4 night cruise.

There are tubs in the bathrooms (except the wheelchair accessible ones).

The sofa folds down into a bed. It is a single as in the size. Only one person can sleep there. With four people in one room, you will also have a bunk above the sofa.

Hope this helps!

Crazy about the sofa bed. How do people not roll right off of those fold-down beds? Guess we'll find out! Gotta make sure my DS who is all over the bed gets the sofa bed or he'll be falling on my other DS all night. :rotfl:

It's not on springs or anything :lmao: :goodvibes Here's a picture of it.

Well, that takes all the fun out!

My younger DS would seriously fall off of it, though. He's the type that you go in his room in the morning and have to search his bed to figure out where he is on it - he rolls all over the place.

Neat how the sofa folds down. I couldn't figure out how a full length sofa would only be a twin bed. Now I get it. Thanks!

Well I've requested a quote as my children have assured me they wouldn't mind missing a few days of school. (What a shock, eh?) They'll be a junior and freshman in high school when May '09 rolls around and they'd miss a full week of school...so I guess I'll just talk to their counselors and see if this is do-able!

Gosh, I really really want to. Maybe there'll be another in 2010. That's when we are planning our first on DCL.

Wow!! I sent away for my quote!!!

How soon is the deposit due? I am going with or without my family! :lmao: oh sorry I meant DH! :confused3

What happens if Bawb wins the election? Can he get off work for that long? :scared1:

I think I will be going on the cruise as well. I have been looking for a good excuse to go on my 1st cruise - ever... I travel solo so that is one reason I have been avoiding cruises because of the expense. But I am biting the bullet this time. I received a quote from DU this morning. Just doing to do a little more thinking tonight and most likely will pay the deposit tomorrow.

Looking forward to meeting the Podcast gang - I was unable to attend the meets back in Dec. I love listening to the podcast each week.

So now I am off to do research on Disney Cruises since this is my 1st DCL cruise as well as my 1st cruise.....:cool1: :cool1:

Woo hoo! I put in for my quote. Celebrating my 10th anniversary (a few days late) and it will be my birthday while we are on the cruise! (May 13)
:cool1:

I will have to sort out my questions soon but I am headed to WDW in 2 weeks for a child-free girl's trip. This will be my first ever cruise so I know I will have lots of questions.
