Okay, now that we've officially decided to do three or four days at YC or BC prior to our 11 night stay at GF I need all the YC/BC fans to tell me which they prefer. We're going to book water view either way. I'd like to have a nice view of Crescent Lake, but I know that's just rolling the dice. Is either one closer to boat transportation? Is there a different atmosphere between the two? Tell me everything you think I need to know to make a decision. Thank you.

BC is closer to Epcot, YC is closer to MGM.

I prefer the atmosphere and decor at the BC. I've also found the cast at the BC nicer and more acommodating.

I've stayed at YC twice and BC twice. Our waterview rooms at the YC had much better views of the lake and the Boardwalk. I liked the decor in both resorts - YC is nautical and BC is tropical/beachy. We found YC to be quieter overall - lobby, rooms, grounds, etc. - which we like. I think because Cape May is right off the lobby at BC, it can be really noisy and congested there.
BC is slightly closer to Epcot but only by 3 or 4 minutes. YC is closer to the boat dock. We found the CMs at YC to be wonderful - had one bad experience with a BC CM, but otherwise the staff there was great too. All things considered, we prefer the YC. But we LOVE the GF!!! Have a great time!

I usually agree with ducklite but I feel the opposite. When I was going to stay over in one of the boardwalk Epcot area resorts I looked at all of them and decided on the Yacht Club and after staying there and visiting the other resorts I am glad I did. Now this is only my opinion and it has been 3 years but I will tell you why I feel this way.

To start the Yacht Club was more my taste in decore. I am not a fan of the pastel colors of the BC. I am told the rooms are about the same size but we noticed the balconies at the YC were the width of the room where the BC seemed to have these tiny balconies that it looked like only one person could be on. The restaurants and pool are easy to get to from either resort so I would not decide on that as a factor in where to stay. The BC is a closer walk to Epcot but the boat is actually closer to the YC. That being said when we stayed at either the YC or the Dolphin the boat was slow and it was always faster to walk to Epcot. I really started to hate that boat. It sounds like Anne had good experiences with the BC staff. We found the YC staff to be just doing their job and not overly friendly and housekeeping was horrible but again this was 3 years ago and staff can change. I know many others who have had great experiences with the YC staff. When we went over to the BC to eat I noticed the lobby and halls of the resort were in very poor shape but maybe since then they have fixed that. That was my impression of both resorts. I still feel the YC is the best in that area of WDW. We are not fans at all of the Boardwalk Resort and we were not happy with our stay at the Dolphin. I would still try the Swan but if I was going to stay at a WDW resort in that area I would return to the YC.

Here was our view from our room

I have only stayed at the BC but we had a room with a very small balcony. It was standing room only. My brother was across the hall from us and they had a full balcony.

If you end up at BC and want a full balcony, I would recommend putting that down as a request.

Otherwise, I felt this was a wonderful resort. Enjoy!!! :flower1:

Thanks to everyone for their quick replies. It really makes this a difficult decision. I'm leaning towards YC because we like the quietness of GF. I really would rather use the boats because of our children's ages, so the difference in the walk won't matter. They both look so nice. I was always hesitant to try anywhere other than GF because we love it so much, but we're going to try and just do MGM and Epcot those days and save MK for when we're at GF. Now to decided between a wishes cruise or an illumination cruise . . . decisions, decisions decisions.

Before I had stayed at either I opted for the YC because of the full balcony and decor, but now that I have stayed at both I must say I prefer the BC, even with a smaller balcony. The BC is that much closer to Epcot, has what at least seems to be a bigger gift shop, has access to the solarium and I believe one other BCV common room connected to the main lobby, has Cape May Cafe off the lobby, and feels just slightly livelier (which makes me feel livelier and somehow more welcome). I stayed on the side facing Epcot, and it was a very pretty, almost woodsy (standard) view. It was a long walk to the lobby, but especially quiet and pretty, and even closer to Epcot. Could see part of Illuminations fireworks from 2nd-floor window. The hallways and lobby were in impeccable shape, so they must have refurb'ed subsequent to Tikiman's trip.

Just putting my two cents in for the Yacht Club. Location wise, I would consider them exactly the same if you are taking the boat. I just prefer the ambiance of the Yacht Club. It feels, nicer, classier, richer...I don't know how else to explain it. To me, Beach Club felt just too casual and I didn't like the pastels either.

We enjoy both. Last time we stayed at YC. I like the large balcony, the rooms and the YC is quiet. The BC seems to have more going on which my kids like.
We are staying at BC this Easter.YC was all booked. Still you can't go wrong.

If you're really up for a lake view room, then YC is the better of the two resorts. They seem to have the better of the lake views, and their balconies on a whole are larger than at BC.

YC is closer to the marina and the boat launch, so if you're looking to rent a boat, do a fishing excursion (highly recommended ask for Terry if possible), or boat to either Epcot or MGM, YC is your place. The YC is a bit more elegant in feel than the BC, but either resort is a good bet to stay at.

I don't know if you can request a lake view, but if you can then I would put that down as one of my requests on the reservation. Remember, however, that lake views may not necessarily give you the great view that Tikiman's photo shows. Sometimes they consider a lake view being able to view a piece of the lake by leaning out over your balcony and looking around a corner.

Good Luck and Have Fun!!

We prefer the Yacht Club. I know some say it is "stuffier" than the BC but we didn't feel that way. We loved the decor and in OUR experience the YC staff was more on the ball than the BC's. They are both great places to stay because you can't beat the location but if I had the option to choose I'd pick the YC. Just my opinion.

We loved the YC... and the GF. The Yacht Club was quieter than the BC,where the lobby is bustling with activity. After a day in the parks,it was so nice to come back to the serene Yacht Club. The staff was very accomodating as well.

We had a lake view room,3rd or 4th floor, overlooking the Gazebo. What a fabulous view! Request this if you can.

Except for the Dolphin, we've stayed at all EPCOT area resorts and the YC is by far our favorite. It is quiet, classy and convenient. We founr the CMs to be friendly; we like the YC better than the GF and way better than the CR.
