YC or AKL? my head is spinning

Well, now I'm down to the wire. And really can't put off booking after today. My head is spinning with all the research I've tried to do. I'm getting about the same price for AKL and the YC. I love the theme of the AKL. But, have heard that the pool and location of YC are better. However, the buses from YC are shared by many other resorts. Help!! Also, if I book AKL is it wirth spending an extra $100 a day for the savannah view. I will be soooo happy when this decision is finally made. We have two kids 8 and 7.

This is a tough decision.

AKL is very unique, beautiful. The bus transportation is good so you don't have to worry about being out in the middle of nowhere.

YC is so convenient. Close to Epcot, MGM, the Boardwalk, Illuminations fireworks, etc. The pool is awesome.

What type of room/view will you reserve at the YC? I wouldn't take a standard view or garden view over AKL. If you are going to reserve a water view/lagoon view or concierge then I would have a hard time deciding between that and AKL.

What are you going to be doing while at WDW? Spending a lot of time at the resort?

Me again - I'm sure you'd like another opinion, hopefully somebody else will come along in time today!!

I don't know what room rate you are booking with, but even at rack rate, sav. view is only a difference of $76/night peak season (I think you stated on your pp that you are going in Feb.?). Pool view is only$12/night difference, and many people have stated they are just as happy w/pool view. DD and I are staying pool vw. in April.

The pool at YC is the best on property, IMO. If that is the most important thing, then go for YC. That is a very nice resort, and the location is very good. You will not be disappointed in staying there, I'm sure.

However, that being said, we are really in love w/AKL, and I think you're kids would love all the activities at this wonderful resort!!

We have stayed at both. I love the AKL and would pick it. The bus service is wonderful and Boma is IMHO the best restaurant on property. I will say that I agree that the YC pool is the best on property and the convenience of walking in and out of Epcot is outstanding.

Both places are wonderful resorts to stay at. If I had to choose between a standard view room at either one I would choose the YC. I wouldn't stay at the AKL unless I had a savannah view room. For me that is the whole point of the resort though I do love the room decore more than any of the others it would be to disappointing to me to have a view of the parkinlot or trees. I have heard of many people getting upgraded to pool or Savannah view rooms but I wouldn't count on it. The pool at AKL is very pretty and somewhat exotic feeling, you can sometimes see animals while in the pool but the pool at the YC can't be beat. The walk or boats to Epcot and The Studios is great as well and we loved staying at the YC.
If you don't want to spend the extra money for a Savannah view at AKL I would say go with the YC.

If your trip is long enough, book both, and experience two wonderful resorts!

These two resorts are APPLES and ORANGES!

We're doing three resorts this next go around!
And the AKL and YC are both in our next itinerary!

Thanks for all your advice. I'm on hold with the agent right now. Looks like its going to be the YC since the AKL is now much more expensive. (We're going over presidents week). Would love to do both. But, we're only staying for four nights.

I guess I have to keep it all in perspective. How lucky to even be able to choose between two such wonderful places. I just hope the YC rooms are in good condition and that it's not too grown up or not too difficult to get to MK. Once I finally book it I can finally begin to enjoy the thought of leaving!

We split our stay between the two resorts during our vacation in June. YC was great for location when you are visiting MGM or Epcot. The pool was also wonderful. But my whole family really loves AKL. The bus service is MUCH better at AKL than at YC. You don't share a bus with any other resorts and they just seemed to come faster. My 17 year old daughter described staying at AKL as like visiting another country. It is just wonderful! Good Luck! Our savannah room at AKL was less than our standard room at YC.
