We were going to the Orlando area so my DH could do the Great Floridian triathlon in Clermont on 10/25. He trained for months and then we all got sick about 2 weeks before we were due to leave which took a lot out of him so he wasn't sure if he would be able to do the entire race.

On our way down we stopped in Panama City Beach so my DH could meet with someone regarding a job transfer and he was offered the transfer so I was really nervous the rest of the trip about possibly moving but we haven't made the final decision yet. We ate at Pineapple Willy's the night we arrived in PCB-we love this restaurant and it was great, as usual.

We realized we would not be able to make it to Orlando in time for our Illuminations Cruise the next day and had to call and cancel. Amy said she would keep checking to see if something opened up later during our stay.

We would begin our trip with 3 nights at YC Concierge-we used DVC pts for this stay because we kept switching our dates around and nothing was available at VWL the whole time. This turned out to be a blessing because YC Concierge was very nice.

We arrived at YC Concierge in the evening after getting to Orlando through Clermont. I must say that Clermont is definately a town I could live in. I can't believe the number of homes that are going up in the area. We met a few kids from Clermont at VB and they said they just built a new high school because so many families are moving into the area.

As were were getting closer to WDW, we caught the end of Wishes which helped perk everyone up and get us excited again about our trip after being in the car so long.

Check in at YC Concierge was easy. We checked our bags with bell services, they also parked the car because there was no self parking left due to a convention. He said that we would not be charged for valet parking and we weren't.

Dane checked us in and he was very nice. There were other couples waiting to check in and he suggested we wait in the lounge and help ourselves to a snack. He didn't give us any problem with my DH keeping the bike in the room. I had asked before we made our reservations if this would be okay as he would never put it in storage at a hotel. He suggested we put it behind one of the concierge desks until we were in our room and he would make sure that nothing happened to it.

We did go into the lounge and had our first encounter with the most ill-behaved little boy we have ever seen. He never sat down, was always sticking his fingers in all of the desserts, sneezing on them, spilling his drink, screaming, complaining, etc.

His parents just didn't seem to care and let him run around as much as he wanted.

They had a nice selection in the evenings: cookies, cakes, trays full of cream puffs, cupcakes, cheesecake, german chocolate brownies and other pastries.

When we checked into 5229 we had autographed character cards with pictures waiting for our children and us, tuxedo strawberries, and a gift basked with assorted candies from Amy in the itinerary planning office. I had ordered the strawberries ahead of time for DH.

The room overlooked SAB and the Boardwalk and you could see part of Illuminations from the balcony. I don't think we could have asked for a better view. Our room was a ways from the lounge but we enjoyed the exercise.

5229 had 2 queens and a day bed. It also had a mini bar that we did not use. There were mugs that we could purchase through the mini bar for refills but we did not do this as there was always soda available in the lounge.

The soda in the lounge is in the cabinet where the juice is-they always had 4 or 5 different kinds.

We unpacked, sat on the balcony for a while and then went to bed.

Sounds like a great start (other than the bratty boy!). Kids like that always make me so grateful for mine!!!

Thanks for the report....I can't wait for more!
