YC CL mini report

We were not looking for meals, but I'm not too sure who is eating sweedish fish as their afternoon snacks. How about some veggies? As to the view, I'm not saying Disney can change a view. I'm saying for the price you pay it could have been designed a little better to give CL rooms all nice views.

And by the way, we were told numerous times by CL staff upon entering the lounge, to "enjoy you meal".

I agree about the snacks. Swedish fish are gross, and at the Poly last week we had jelly beans, milk duds, and goldfish crackers. It was a joke. I would love to see fresh fruit and veggies. :thumbsup2

With the cutbacks they won't do it because it's too expensive. They can buy bulk of candy and crackers for less money and it doesn't spoil. Same with the frozen appetizers. That's why I keep telling people don't book CL for food. We use the lounge for water, milk, soda, coffee, beer, and breakfast. That's about it.

I agree about the food quantity 100% but I disagree when it comes to quality. I think the food quality needs to be better than a package of frozen spring rolls heated up. I miss the culinary creations you use to see in the lounges... items that had a personal touch, they were often small portions of food you could find in and around the resort itself. Lobster salad from the Captain's Grille at the YC CL lounge... Salmon from Artist Point at the WL CL lounge, etc, etc. I'd rather have one tiny well crafted food sample than a whole tray of frozen Sam's Club apps. But that's just me. ;)

As for the view, if you pay for standard then you will get standard, no matter if you're on the CL or not. You get what you pay for, so you really can't expect anything more than that.

Erika, you are exactly spot on in terms of quality. CL should be a higher quality experience. The CMs should be top notch and the food should be prepared with quality in mind. For example, sushi at the poly should be a chance to try a hand crafted delicacy- but not an all you can eat sushi night. It's hard to blame Disney for skimping on the food when the guests are hoarding it.

Not sure what's worse, Sweedish fish as a snack or CL CM referring to any of the food as a meal.

It's frustrating because we all KNOW Disney as the ability to blow our minds when it comes to food. I've been to many special events on property, private events, press events, weddings, catered dinners, etc, they have the ability to make amazing appetizers and desserts that would meet the level of quality you would expect from Disney and from Club Level. I think they just need to hire me to come in and revamp the whole CL experience from top to bottom! ;)

That makes sense, of course you may need to bring me on to test the 'new CL' before the full roll out!!

Like any other issue regarding views, guests should always pay for the view they want.

For families of 5, the BC CL only offers the SV rooms. No opportunity to pay a bit more for the upgrade to Garden or Lagoon View. For me the view doesn't matter one bit, though. We do pick CL for the amenities and not the actual rooms. I can see how it might bother some not to have a choice in view for CL.

We are a family of 5 also and could only book a standard view. I would have loved to been able to book a water view. Can't really book a room with the view we really wanted. It did not ruin our trip be any means. My husband and kids could care less. I however enjoy sitting on the balcony and relaxing. I just don't want to look at the parking lot.

I'm glad I tried it, but will not book it again.

I opted for a lagoon view room instead of Club level this trip. I think I will enjoy sitting on the balcony more than the Club level lounge. CL is only 40.00 more a night than a lagoon view room, but I have been so underwhelmed the last two trips I don't even want to be in the lounge. I'm still holding out hope a GV room opens up.

If you think the offerings are poor, why do you keep staying CL?

Just curious. I agree about the food offerings.

That's a good question & I keep asking myself the same thing!! :lmao: Especially since I like to do my ARDs myself too! And we don't drink, so get no benefit from the evening "adult" beverages. Every trip I tell myself I'll skip club level & then I go ahead & book it anyway. :rotfl:

My husband prefers having the private floor. I like knowing my waterview room will not just be overlooking the quiet pool. The breakfast offerings are perfect for us; we're not big breakfast eaters. We do like the crudité, hummus & lemonade. My work schedule changes all the time & I have used IPO to book ADRs for me if I wasn't home @ the 180 day mark.

The first time we stayed YC CL, they had these amazing bacon wrapped bread sticks. Hope springs eternal that some day, they'll offer something that good again. And then, there are those potato chips! :cloud9:

Fresh fruit and veggies would be a great afternoon snack!!

They used to have the veggies, dip & crackers in the afternoon. They seem to have disappeared between our May 2012 & May 2013 trips. Not everyone wants junk food for a snack. Maybe it's time to start complaining on the post visit surveys.

I'm definitely going to put that in my survey. I know they are making cut backs at Disney, but the room prices keep going up. I'm pretty sure they could put out some fresh veggies in the afternoon. Don't they grow their own veggies in the LAND?:rolleyes1
