YC/BC Points

Does anyone know if there will be points for sale for the YC or BC
in the near future ?

Right now all we know is that the BCV's will be part of DVC sometime in mid to late 2002. There is some rumor, mostly from this board, that the points may be 'pre-sold'. That means points MAY go on sale once the VLW is sold out, and before BCV is finished constuction and the timeshare paprework is filed with the State of Florida. That is where our knowledge runs out. Sorry if you are diappointed in my answer, but there is no real answer yet......

My guide told me that they will start selling the BCV as soon as they can get approval and they want to time this when the VWL runs out but that it may take a little while after that. They do not want their sales people having nothing to do.

For anyone that has bought VWL or has talked to a guide lately, have you heard when VWL might sell out? I know no one really knows the day or month that it will sell out. But how about a guess. 3, 6, 9 months?

We are now thinking about getting 150 points at VWL this year instead of 150 points at BCV next year? Just wanted to know if we had some time left.

We would do an add-on at BCV if we bought at VWL.

The 'Official Word' we have been hearing from the weekly DVC resort meetings is VWL will (or is expected to ) sell out around year end.

I would call and check periodically. My guide told me that I had a couple of months before BWV sold out and then a week later I got a form letter saying that there was only a couple of weeks left until it was sold out. I called to get an addon and it was sold out and all of this happened with in 10 days.

They try to predict but it is hard for them to because they could have a push and it could sell quick.

My guide told me that she woudln't be surprised if it sold out in early to mid fall, and that they were hoping to have the BCV on line so that they could sell it when VWL sold out.

I wouldn't wait too long if you want these points. I had to be put on a wait list for BWV and three weks later, when I had given up hope, I finally got my 50 add on points.

If you want BCV then wait, although she told me she expects a price increase when they start selling them. That is what happened in the past, although she was careful to say she hasn't been told officially that this is the case.

If you are planning to make a VWL purchase it may help you to know that when you sign your application to purchase, it may take two to three months before you actually close. If you plan to finance through Disney, that means your first payment wouldn't be until at least October, assuming you buy today.

Maybe this helps, maybe not. But in any case buy where you plan to stay, as the 11 month priority booking window becomes increasingly important as a resort sells out.

I am hoping that the minute anyone hears a definate answer to this or at least a pretty substatial rumor, it will get posted on this board. I have tried to pin my rep down and the most he will tell me is that it will be after September 2001 and before March 2002.

DVCDAVE... you say it take 2 to 3 months to close. Do you have to wait until you close before making any reservations or can you make them as soon as you sign?

I asked my guide last week how much inventory to sell is remaining.

He said that each of the remaining resorts (in VWL, HH, and VB) only had 12% remaining inventory. I asked if they would pre-sell BCV and he thought they would not to avoid problems. He thought it wasn't Disney's style and they don't change things often.

When was VWL offered for sale? He indicated it could roughly be estimated when it would sell out, but a rush could drastically change things.

Side question:

When did BWV go on sale? When did it sell out?

The sales figures and %'s are always guesstimates - even from the sales staff.

In July 2000, we were told at HH that it was 65% sold and would sell out in Fall 2001. In July 2001, we were told at HH that is was 70-75% sold and aould sell out in Fall 2002. Someone last week reported that they were told (at HH) that it is 80% sold and now someone reports only 12% remaining.

It is obvious that all of these figures and dates are speculative guesses. DVC has always been good about notifying members by mail when a resort is about to sell out- let's hope that is the case with these resorts also.

When did BWV go on sale? When did it sell out?

BWV began sales in Aug-Sep 1996 and sold out in Nov 2000.
OKW began sales in Oct 1991 and sold out first in spring 1998 and the new villas sold out in Nov 2000- after opening for sales in Nov, 1999.

VB began sales in 1995 and HH in 1996.

TERRY S--- You can make your ressies the day after your guide gets your signed paperwork. That is when your name appears in the computer. Tell your guide what your plans are, and explain to him that you don't wnat to wait to close before making a resservation, he or she will explain the procedure. It is simoler than it sounds.

I took the estimates from the guide with a grain of salt. How much heads-up do members receive when a resort is about to sell out? Do they say "We have 2% left, buy now"?

What sort of heads-up do the members get with a price per point increase. Is there a set window that members will know?

Example: When VWL went from $72 - $75, did members receive a notice stating the prices will increase to $XX.00 on July 1, 2001.

We have usually had a few months of official notice about price increases. I know we had the announcement posted here in the spring for the June increase to $75.

Members were also notified about the impending sell-out of BWV and OKW a several weeks in advance. The notice did not specify a date, but just served as a warning that the "end was near".

Rest assured that in addition to our usual dose of speculation and crystal ball gazing here, that as soon as any official word is found it will also be prominently DIScussed on this board!

The info is certainly a bonus! When I called about the point lottery, the guide didn't know where I could have heard of the news.

Based on history, have they been close with there estimates/projections?

I am interested in an add on at HHI and I am a bit worried that if I snooze I lose. I would like to visit HH before purchasing, but I don't think the daily grind will allow a visit prior to spring.
