My dad (running for city council) participated in a candidates forum last night. He was sooooooooo nervous. I was too!! Every time his turn came for his opening statement or a question, my stomach just started churning, being so nervous for him!!! But he did awesome!!!
He handled himself so well, directly answered questions, and seemed genuinely concerned about the future of our little town (he IS genuinely concerned, but sometimes I think it could be hard to come off that way).
His second question made me suck in air, though. Had the potential for disaster written all over it!! It was "You've openly criticized the current city government for purchasing the XXXXXX farm. How would you have handled it differently?" Talk about being put on the spot!!! But, he didn't back down or try to sugar coat it, he just stated the facts of why he thought it was wrong and came off looking quite good.
Of course, I am predjudiced since he is my dad, but I honestly feel he came of as one of the best up there (out of 8 candidates)!!
