Hey everyone! Just had to share the good news...I just found out that I have been selected to coach the US Special Olympics Equestrian Team at the 2011 World Summer Games in ATHENS, GREECE!!!
I am so incredibly honored and excited. I coached the team in 2007 at world games in Shanghai, China and it was the experience of a lifetime. Over 500 athlets and coaches from the US joined thousands of coaches and athletes from around the world to compete in dozens of events, from aquatic sports, to track and field, to cycling, bowling, skating, bocce, basketball, baseball, equestrian and more!
The event in 2011 is in Athens from the end of June through the beginning of July (about 3 weeks total). My equestrian team will have 10 amazing athletes from around the country...6 ladies and 4 men. These terrific athletes will compete in events on horses they've never even met before, from trails and dressage to barrel racing and equitation.
I just can't believe I get to do this a second time. Working with the Special Olympics has been a life-changer for me. I am humbled and honored to get to throw myself into the fray for them again!
