I've always wanted to stay at the Wilderness Lodge but we are definitely moderate kind of people...and that's when we're feeling rich! ;) Our next trip, we've budgeted for 7 or 8 nights at AoA.

Since March I've been putting all of my change/loose bills in a big jar. We pull out our money for the week on Friday afternoons...and every Friday morning whatever I have leftover goes in the jar. Some weeks it's $20, some weeks it's 35 cents...anyway, that's my Wilderness Lodge money.

Since I figured that the WL was on average $200 more expensive per night than a value, each $200 I can save is one night "guilt free" at WL. I just took it to the bank today (the teller was not too happy with me even though I had rolled all the coins myself) and it was $414 - 2 nights at WL! I think I can save up rather painlessly for at least 2 more nights between now and June 2013.

Sorry, just had to share! I'm excited! And I know Dis-ers can understand my excitement. (DH just smiles patiently and says, "Yes, hon.")

Great job saving! We, too, want to stay at Wilderness Lodge. We are hoping for a split stay in 2013 (value & WL). Thanks for the post-I'm even more motivated to save now!

That's awesome.....way to go. We used to save all our trip change and the kids would get that every year for souvenir money. Then we adopted 3 more so the change didn't stretch as far LOL

That sounds like my DH :rotfl2: I'm all excited bout things and he's like "yes dear" "if that's what you want to do dear"

Congrats on saving all of that for WL I love the look of that resort. I'm hoping to start saving for a 2013 trip of my own. I like the Jar idea. The only things I'd have to save for is park tickets and airline tickets which is still alot for a family of four. But if everyone on here can do it then so can I. Thanks for the motivation (showing me even 35 cents helps add up) :thumbsup2

The change jars really work especially with my dgd's who live with us. We took them on their 1st trip in Jan and they wanted to go back for MNSSHP. We discussed that Disney costs a lot of money and we would need to save for awhile. We decided to start saving change so we got a 1 gal water bottle and decorated it in March with a saving for MNSSHP from the creative disign board. We have over $200 and a month to go. The jar holds about $100 of mixed change and we have filled it 2x.

It has been so much fun watching them save, even a penny or a nickel they remind us it needs to go in the Disney jar. They are even offering to do extra chores for Disney money now that we are getting close. They have already asked about saving to go on a Disney cruise when we get home from this trip. We now have 2 little Disney addicts :)

How awesome! My kiddos are 6 and 8 and have been amazed at how much change in a jar can add up :)

We've been home now for two weeks and the Disney magic hasn't worn off! This was our first trip and the kids are more motivated than ever for a return trip.

Tonight I was exhausted and did not feel like cooking so my DH was ordering pizza. The kids jumped up and said "We will make sandwiches and Mac n cheese! Save that pizza money for Disney!!" We still got the pizza after explaining that a fellow DIS'er shared a coupon for 1/2 off :)
Love the DIS more and more!

Awesome job saving :)
I'm thinking I need to do that myself for our next Disney cruise. I actually give me son all my loose change so he can put it in his account, but may need to change it up a bit, since I already give him a set amount for his savings which he can't touch until he's 18.
Loose change can get you FAR!
