I'm in at two of my schools now!

I just got my acceptance letter from the University of Oregon!

YAY!!!

Only two more to go!

Anybody gotten in somewhere since the last thread?

Congratulations Patti!
:woohoo:

Nope, but I've been getting letters from this college thing our school signs us up for. Checked out a few they've sent me and have some in my favorites. Im a sophomore though. (:

That's when I started planning! It helps to get started early. Know where you want to apply and check out the requirements to get into the "toughest" school for you, that way you're all set. Plan out your courses ahead of time (high school). Take the PSATs, SATs, and SAT IIs (most schools require at least two of those).

Good luck, and where are you interested?

I got in at 2 of 3... The other school postponed me and the want to see my first semester grades.:rotfl: Once they see those 2 D's and 2 C's I think they will have an easier decision. Oh well. If I would've gone there, I wouldn't do the Disney College Program. But since I'm not going there, I will do the CP.:thumbsup2

Yeah, I went on a college frenzy this summer, I'm really excited.
I've been looking at the majors and I'm still trying to decide exactly what I want to do, but I know at least a few areas so I'm trying to find a school that way if I change my mind I can change my majors and things.
The hardest part is money, which there is scholarships I can get, but according to my mom's range I'm a little weary. (But I did start my own savings account at the beginning of 2008 for college!)
We took a PLAN test a few months ago and they gave it to us back so I can study which ones I got wrong. I plan on taking the PSATs and SATs next year. (:

Right now I'm looking most into Hollins University.
I've got Milikin University, University of San Diego, and Hamline University on my list too.

What are you going for? (I mean like major and stuff. :goodvibes )

It's nice to see that you're motivated. I know too many people who waited until the very last second to even think about taking exams and choosing colleges.

My plan right now is to major in Anthropology with a dual minor in French/Francophone studies and Secondary Education (HS and College level).

BTW- love your sig! I was watching a CSI:NY marathon on Spike yesterday!

Most of my friends are pretty excited about college but only a few of us are really looking into it. Most of people I know don't even want to go, so I know what you mean.

That's cool! We don't have french, only spanish. ):
I want to go into creative writing and journalism. But I want to take classes in theatre and english too. It's kinda hard since most of the arts don't give you solid ground and a stable job, it's kind of a take a jab and hope you make it. Which is why I'm trying to find something else I can do if it falls through.

Thanks!
We were off two days this past week and I didn't really watch it before because I didn't get into the NY one. I watched a few episodes on Tuesday and was hooked! I watched it all day both Tuesday and Wednesday then when I came home from school Thursday and Friday. :goodvibes

Congrats Patti!

I haven't started, as I'm only a sophomore. But, I'm definitely focusing on my grades. They didn't put me in honors this year where I should be, so I'm a little peeved about that.
Right now, I'm looking at whatever I can afford. I'm going to be a nurse and most schools have nursing schools.
Ideally, I'd get into Penn. I have 0 chance whatsoever at Ivy League, but I'm still going to push myself and attempt.

I'm applying to Princeton, even though the odds of me getting in are very slim. The acceptance rate there is about 8 or 9%. eek. But, I'm figured the worst they can do is turn me down. The best they can do is accept me.

That sucks. Our school offers French, Spanish, and German. And most of the kids at school speak a little of each! It's so much fun to walk down the hall and get yelled at in Spanish, answer in French, and hear a confirmation in German. It's great, I tell ya.

And NY is my favourite of the three. I used to be a hardcore Miamier, but then they killed Speed (my favourite character). Now, I'm so-so with Las Vegas, but NY always catches my attention. I think it's Danny and Don. And you can never go wrong with Gary Sinise. Never.

Congratulations, Patti!
And I hope you get into Princeton. I live like half an hour away, it's such a gorgeous little town. So much history.

I really need to start looking.
I'm a junior, and I have no idea where I want to go.
But I'm taking a trip to Philly to look around there soon.

That's one of the reasons that i want to go there. I love places with history. If there's no story behind a place, it's kinda boring.

Hah, yeah that's what I liked about being in Philly all the time. I was treated in the first hospital in the country, and to get out of the city I had to pass Washington Square (has a "moon tree" and Tomb of The Unknown Soldier), the Atwater Kent Museum, and the place where the Declaration was written. That's all in 8 blocks on 2 streets alone. If I got 4 streets over, we've got Independence Hall right there. It's amazing there.

ETA - I just realized you were talking about Princeton. Woops. I'm so tired, maybe I should go to bed LOL!

I just have to say, the Penn campus is GORGEOUS!

Haha. LOL. Philly's a great city. I've only ever passed through, but I loved seeing even what I did.

Originally, I had thought I'd love to go to school in Boston (seriously, my favourite city in the world- Paris included), but schools there are really expensive and competitive. And the cost of living in Boston is really high.

Congratulations!

I'm still 3 for 3 and 3/9. However, recently I heard from Susquehanna about scholarship information. They are giving me $14,000 a year to go there =)

I think I heard our school offered French before but I'm not sure. The kids at our school are real annoyed about learning a new language because they think that we won't need it in the future. I think they're crazy, especially saying we won't need spanish. So it's not really a fun class, all they do is complain. I wish we had a wider variety of languages though.

LV was my favorite, I was into Miami for awhile, but recently drifted from it. NY is really the only one that I actually like all the CSIs. Don and Danny are pretty awesome. Haha. ITA with the last sentence. I know, I'm going deeper into OT, but I figure if my post does have something thread related I'm alright. Lol. Have you seen Gary Sinise in Of Mice and Men? We're watching it in writing class, he's awesome!

Speaking a second language is very important. The world is getting smaller. Even if it's just a basic understanding and vocabulary, everybody should speak at least one language other than the one they speak naturally.

And no, I haven't. In fact, I haven't seen practically any of his movies. Wow. I need to get on that. I remember him from Apollo 13 (awesome movie!) and The Green Mile more than anything. I haven't seen Forrest Gump in yeeeeaaars, but I vaguely remember him from that, too.

And, interesting fact, Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny) was the first actor to have appeared on all 3 CSI shows! There's only about three or four people to have ever done this!
