So excited!! We'll be at AKL value 2BR in 10 days :cool1: If I do online check in and they assign me a savanna view, no one can take it from me if they check in earlier than I do that day, can they? Also, if we don't like the location of the room, can it be changed right then? TIA!!

I have done online check in several times and if there is availability, they have been more than happy to change my room. I have never had any problems with online check-in. Have fun!!! I'm so jealous!

Thanks!! One more Q :flower3: I would like to add the DP for our 1st night only. Should I do this before I do online check in? I thought I read somewhere on here that once you do online check in, you can't segment your days.

I'm not sure if you can have just one night of DP. I think you have to have it for the entire length of stay. But call member services and they can tell you for sure. I found this as well:

"Adding Disney Dining Plan to Your Reservation
e Disney Dining Plan must be added to your reservation at least 48 hours prior to check-in by calling Member Services. Payment in full is due at the time of adding the Disney Dining Plan to your reservation. Disney Dining Plan cannot be added to your reservation within 48 hours of check-in."

They now allow you to do single nights for DP if you want. A great perk as it is always too much food for us!

With AKV DVC rooms, you will have savanna view only if you reserved savanna view when you reserved. It is a guaranteed booking category that is chosen at time of reservation. Moreover, with DVC you cannot put in any requests during on-line check-in; those must be made by the member by phone through DVC Member Services. If you demand change of room once you have room, they can charge you a $75 fee for doing so. Understand that doing on-line check-in does not result in any advantage over regular check-in other than you may get through the line a little shorter. In other words, your room requests won't be met any better than someone checking in regularly.

Note if you are not a member and are renting from a member, you must make DDP request through member 48 hours or more in advance. If you are someone trading in through RCI, I am not sure what you to do for DDP. Also, if trading in through RCI, you may get any room, savanna or otherwise, it is luck of the draw and no request is accepted.

We are staying in a value 2BR so we have a chance of getting a savanna. I would be willing to pay the $75 to move if we get an undesirable view as we will be there 12 nights. We wouldn't have to pay if they changed it before we got to the room though. (we are members)

In terms of whether online check in will secure your room, the answer is no. Even if you do online check in, they can change things at the front desk if they have a reason to do so. They would simply then have to adjust the online check in information.

The only time the charge comes in to play is if you check in, go to your room, and then ask to be moved after you have been in the room. Then they charge, but not if things are done before you even get there.

In terms of segmenting, you will want to do that ahead of time and once you do that, you won't be able to complete online check in as it does not work with segmented reservations.

It is one of the drawbacks of segmenting.

Have a great time! Our trip is still a month and 9 days away and its killing me!!!

Online check-in does not affect room assignments. All is does is pre-register your information, it does not assign a room.

If you segment, you casn't do online checkin. I'm betting that if you segment after online checkin, that info might be lost.

Online checkin will not give you any room as the PP said. It essentially stores your credit card info so they can prepare your keys before you actually arrive.
