Trip report

We just got back from Valentines Day at WDW.
We only decided to make this trip last October and were able
to get nice accommodations at VWL and BWV.

This trip had ten or so "firsts" for us... first time we
gone alone. Although we spent a good chunk of time at the parks
we made special effort to visit other resorts, try various
restaurants and enjoy the sun. Here are some highlights:

Wilderness Lodge
We both gave Wilderness Lodge an "A." My wife is very
specific in her likes and dislikes so this is a strong endorsement.
We very much enjoyed being on the lake, running on the trails,
and taking out the motor boats. We visited the Contemporary and
the Grand Floridian from this location... the transfer boats are
very enjoyable.

California Grill
We had reservations for Valentines Day at the California Grill.
The view of the Magic Kingdom at night is very impressive. We watched
"Wishes" from their and enjoyed it as well. For our particular tastes
in food, we would give this a "B." That's unfortunate given that it
was easily the most expensive meal we had during our vacation. Well
worth doing it once.

Back Home to Boardwalk
This was our second trip home, our first studio, and our first premium
location. We were overlooking the main pool and were close to the
elevators :) I must say it feels very comfortable there. We bought
sight unseen two years ago... and just got lucky.

Segway Tour
The highlight of the trip for me was the Epcot Segway tour. This
is a fantastic way to start your day! Zipping in and about the
World Showcase on technological magic carpet... too much fun.

Boma
The biggest surprise of the week was the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
We were able to get into Boma without priority seating (after a short
wait.... strolling around the lodge). It was my favorite meal of the
trip. We will definitely be back.

Stitch
I'd read on the boards that Stitch's Great Escape wasn't a big
improvement on Alien Encounter. I basically agree -- the new
animatronics are a blast. The thing I DIDN'T know was how Stitch
had been integrated throughout the park... on monorails... in
the various voice overs including the morning wakeup call. I thought
that was very fun.

Crush
Another cute surprise was Turtle School at Epcot. Its really aimed
at kids but is very fun. Crush provides an interactive question and
answer session... my wife was pretty stunned.

A wonderful trip,

Sounds like a great trip. Nothing like escaping Minnesota in winter ;) ! We also love BWV and Boma (where we now eat every time we visit). I am glad to hear the great review of Segway. We had to cancel our tour in February because DH hurt his back but definitely want to do this next time. Thanks for posting.

We still talk about Crush. My Nat was the little yellow haired one in the pink shell and she loved it. It was great and not to be missed!! Duuuudde! :rotfl2:
Love VWL and it is my fav.

Glad you had a good trip!

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you had a good trip. Another huge endorsement for Crush. This really is an "E" ticket attraction. My girls are still talking about it. It was just soooo neat!

Dh really wants to do the Segway tour. Next time we go I'll have to get him a spot.

Glad you had a nice time. We ate at CG earlier this month and thought it was very yummy! What did you get to eat there? I had the pumpkin lasagna and thought it was fab.

Hi,

Great report!!! Thanks for sharing!! Mom & I love the Lodge & BOMA too.

I don't know why we didn't love it more?!? It may have been the
case that it was THE meal of the trip (too high of expectations).
And Boma may have been the opposite -- walked in "cold" and
was totally open to the experience?!?!

Is the pumpkin lasagna vegetarian... sounds interesting to me :)

thank you for the great trip report shan, as well as the great dining reviews! CG is on our to do list as well, (haven`t eaten there for years). Last time we were up there, it was a Dinner Show, (I think in `93). Anyway, glad you guys had a great Anniversary!! :wave2:

What is CRUSH...the E ticket?

At the Living Seas in Epcot -- they have themed much
of the exhibit around Finding Nemo. Turtle School is a
small auditorium where the audience can interview
Crush from Finding Nemo. He explains things about
being a turtle, in exchange for getting to ask questions
about being a human.

Its like watching a live action "Finding Nemo" -- Disney is
now creating the opportunity to interact with their characters
directly. More so than the Characters walking around the park
since Crush actually talks and answers questions. Its very
impressive (thus the "E Ticket" reference).
