Hi there!

I just wondered if any of you could help me with any information that you might have about the Yasmin Contraceptive Pill, I have been thinking of going on it but I don’t know anyone who is on it. Our national health service are reluctant to give it to people as it is quite expensive over here. Are any of you guys on this particular one? And what side effects / good effects have you noticed and would you recommend it to others.

Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

No clue whatsoever!
I wonder if it is called something else here or more likely we will see it here about 7 years later than everyone else.:D

My sister is taking it and I'm think about switching over from Ortho Tricylene. Its a much milder pill with fewer side effects. She never had a "normal" period on Ortho, but is just fine on Yasmin. It also does not seem to have the sexual side effects either. I plan to ask my GYN about it at my next appt.

I've been taking this for about 1.5 months now. No side effects or problems at all. Once I got over the price thanks to our lovely insurance's refusal to cover birth control ($95 for a 3 month supply) I've had no complaints. :)

I was on it for awhile, but not for the contraceptive aspect of the pill. The best side affect I had was it helped me lose about 10 pounds the first couple of months I was on it. It helps reduce the amount of sodium in your body. Here's a link to it. Some insurance plans will not pay for it though. You might want to check to see if yours will. Mine didn't, but it was only $32 a month (my copay is $25 a month, so it wasn't a big deal for me to pay $7 more).

I'm on it too and have no side effects whatsoever. Thankfully my insurance covers part of it so I just have to pay my co-pay!

I started it 3 months ago to help with serious pre-menopausal symptoms, not contraception. .

I highly recommend it. No side effects for me. It has been a lifesaver for me.

I did a search on google once for Yasmin and there is quite a bit of info on the web. www.yasmin.com

Yasmin was the first pill I tried - I wasn't a fan. However, it seems from talking to others that I was one of the very few to have negative side effects. I didn't have a weight gain (I did with OTC) but I had no sex drive and it did very little to control my bad cramping during Aunt Flow.

I LOVE IT!!! I've been on Yasmin for about 2 years now. I pay $30 a month. It is a lower dose pill and I have no side effects. My face was breaking out all the time from the other pill I was on and that is why my doctor switched me to Yasmin. Best change ever!!

I was on a pill like that once. I kept thinking, no wonder it's birth control...I'll never feel like having sex again. And my cramps were terrible.

I'm on depo now (took care of the cramps because 'Aunt Flow' stopped visiting) but weight gain is terrible. Plus when I went in for my last shot my doctor told me about a new study that has proved that long-term use of depo can lead to osteoperosis (sp?). I've been seeing commercials for this advertising like crazy so I'm going to ask the doctor about Yasmin.

Been on it for about 6 months. Periods went from 9 days of heavy flow to 4 days of really light flow. Cramps went from super horrible to almost non-existant. No weight gain.

My only complaint was that the first four weeks (whole package of pills) I bled the ENTIRE time.

I was on Ortho Tri for a while to help with severe cramping and skin problems. It took care of all those things but made me gain a lot of weight. Also, my insurance owuld not cover it.

I just switched over to Nordette which is a "generic" according to my insurance. No problems whatsoever, but again, I mainly take it for non-contraceptive reasons.

Been on Yasmin for about 2 years now. Have had no side effects. GYN prescribed this pill for severe cramping and irregular periods and it has fixed both problems. Have not noticed any negative side effects. And as others have stated, I have not gotten the severe acne that I had on previous pills.

My doctor suggested Yasmin after I had DS. I've been on it almost a year and have had no side affects at all.

I've been on it for 2-3 years, I've had no problems with it. Blue Cross Blue Shield does pay some, I think I pay $20. So far, I've found no complaints, I'm no more or no less witchier(with a "b") than usual:p

thanks you guys! I am so glad that we have these boards, you would never get this kind of feedback from the doctor!

Thanks for all of your advice it is much appreciated!
