yard sale tips?

We will be having a yard sale soon. In the past we have always thought we had a lot of good stuff but it hasn't sold. We've been lucky if we made $90-100. Our prices aren't too high and we are always willing to negotiate. Everything is always labeled with price stickers, we put up plenty of signs, etc. I don't know what else to do to draw in a crowd/sell. We have it at my in-laws' because they have a big house in a nice town and we can't have them in front of our apartment. They are anxious for everything to sell because we store everything in their basement. Any tips?

One great tip I learned from DIS is to hang up any coats or clothing you can. We did at our last sale and had some success. We took 2 ladders and used a broom handle for the rod. We also advertised on Craig's List. Good Luck with your sale!

I agree with hanging, people like to see stuff plus it's much much easier for you to straighten things up!!! Make sure everything is marked clearly, makes it much easier for you.


This might be totally basic, but put like things with like things...that's a personal pet peeve of mine when I go garage sale-ing!
