Warm weather is coming and that means yard sales  We had our first 2 community yard sales in my county this past weekend and within a month or so we'll be able to hit over a hundred houses a weekend until it starts getting too hot and miserable. I thought it would be fun to post your great finds. In the past we've managed to acquire an almost complete collection of Disney Princess costumes, complete with accessories and all for less than 3 dollars each. We've found designer clothing, handbags, small appliances and passed over more deals on things we have no use for than I can remember (we aren't resellers). My wife is in England for another week so we won't be looking for Grandkid-type stuff (although I am supposed to be looking out for a Belle dress and Rapunzel) but I did get something good: 20 bottles of wine for $15 :thumbsup2

Obviously nothing fancy with names like Parducci Merlot, Aquinas Napa Valley Chardonnay, The Little Penguin Shiraz-Cabernet and 5 bottles of Andre Brut but for 75 cents/bottle it's nothing to sneeze at either. He had it marked for $1/bottle, I offered $15 for all of it and he agreed.

Got any good deals? Share them and we'll see how people do this season :cool1:

I stopped at my first garage sale of the season last Friday, it was a pretty good one. I bought DD3 a Disney Store Cinderella Dress for $1, 8 outfits all either Disney Store or Gymboree $1.50 or less each, a toy Cinderella carriage $.25 and a red little tykes bench (perfectly fits her keyboard on it) $.50 and a brand new princess swimsuit $.75. I spent less than $10 total.

Im so excited that we just moved into town and lots of rummage sales to go to now. We used to live about 15 minutes out of town. DH is just thrilled LOL

I went to my first garage sale at the church down the street this weekend. Tons of good deals! I went in the morning and then later in the afternoon for the bag sale where anything you could fit into a grocery bag was a dollar.

In the morning I got
Bike rack$2 this will be great for camping!
Set of camping dishes $3
Some sweatshirts and jackets for the boys for next year, only $1 each

I went back for the bag sale and got some dishes, silverware, and some clothes sandals for myself. But what I am so happy about is one of the members of the church had donated a lot of white tile. The smaller tile you use in showers. Well we are redoing my shower this summer, and he sold it to me for a $1 per box!!!!!!!!!!! And these are the huge boxes. I was so happy. I did end up tipping them for carrying it to my car. Plus it was all going to the church camp fund.

My daughter has spotted the first signs of the spring season...the tag sale signs! She is already mentally preparing the list of things she wants to look for (she's 6, an early learner!!). It's a nice way to spend a Friday or Saturday morning with her...she LOVES talking to people and looking around for great items!

It's really something how cheap those Disney outfits go for and most of the ones we've bought look they were only worn during a WDW vacation, cleaned then put away until it was time to sell them. Don't they cost around $50 new?

I hit two good sales near me recently. At one, all kids clothes were a quarter; my DD is wearing a Lands End dress today that I picked up. And the other sale has stuff everything into a big bag for $5. I got about 40 items (mostly clothes) for that amount; some were LL Bean, Gap, EMS, Justice, etc. I like the bigger sales better than the little tag sales, but mostly b/c I have younger kids and I can hit a big selection all at once.

I love to yard sale! This weekend I stopped at a YS and found a bunch of clothing in my dS size. I loaded up and asked her how much. She said FREE!!! WOOT!! Free is good. I also got bath wash and shampoo (several bottles) for 2.00 total. And they weren't generic either.

DS7 was thrilled to find the Imaginext Batcave for $5 at our first sale of the season this past weekend.

My favorite find last year was Cinderella's Castle playset from WDW for $3.00!

I hit an awesome one Friday! I got an 8gb ipod touch, BRAND NEW for $100. The women was a doctor and had an iphone and a shuffle for workouts. She got the touch to use for her workouts and hated how big it was. She had no need for it...YAY for me!!! I seriously couldn't believe it...still can hardly believe it. One Christmas present down. :santa:

I also got an American Girl matching outfit for my soon to be 8 year old. It's the shirt and capri's that go with the my American Girl doll. Total cost, only $2. Great first yard sales of the season.

It's only tuesday and there are already 5 neighborhood yards sales posted on Craigslist for my county and 2 church sales. Hopefully the really big neighborhoods will hold off another week or 2 so my wife will be back. It's much more fun going with someone than going alone.

I love yard sales! Went to my first last Friday. Found DD some tap shoes, Disney princess b-day party decorations. For myself, i found a set of 4 Vera Bradley bags for $15 all together. What a way to start the garage sale season! :thumbsup2

Around here we do not have any decent yard sales. I used to live in an area that had some great ones. It was an exciting Saturday morning event, grab a newspaper and scout out the trip....ahhh the thrill of the hunt! Get up early and hunt...the close the morning w/a trip to McDonald's and egg mcmuffins. I miss those days.

I need to try driving to bigger town some Saturday morning to see if they have a good yard sale circuit, it is definitely a fun activity...and pretty cheap entertainment!

I found a full-length Casual Corner (boutique shop in Washington DC) cashmere coat still in the dry cleaner's bag for $5.00. It was a size 6 and didn't fit anyone in my house, but it fit my sister, who's still wearing it almost 20 years later! Do I win?

Not really. $5 in 1991 would be over $8 in today's dollars. No yardsaler worth their salt would pay anywhere close to that much for a coat. Not an epic fail but not very good either. On the bright side it sounds like you got your money's worth out of the buy.

A year or two ago I bought an American Girl doll and maybe 15 outfits for $50...I then turned around and resold them for close to $200

I'm not letting myself go yard sale hunting until after we move...though i plan to HAVE at least 2 yard sales myself in the coming weeks.

I haven't been to a yard sale yet this year but will soon. I went to a few last summer and some major flea markets and found something i wanted. I collect blue and white pottery for my living room. My DH thinks it is all dust collectors but he changed his mind once he heard of what I got for $2. I loved delft pottery and went to a tag sale and found a piece, a tobacco jar and it looked like Delft. I paid $2 for it and when I got home I looked it up on the internet and it sure looked like it so I took it to an antique appraiser and verified it was indeed Delft and it was worth $450 dollars.:yay:

Just got back from visiting 5 neighborhoods in 4 hours. My best deal that I bought was a Peavy guitar, amp, patch cord, tuner, strap and picks for $40. My son is a guitar collector and I normally find stuff for him but I'm going to keep this for myself. I also bought some wine stoppers, a few T-shirts for my nephew and a butter dish. I still haven't found a Belle costume yet (one got sold right before I showed up and a lady had one but couldn't find it) but I did get the shoes, so that's a start. My biggest heartbreak was finding a Big Green Egg (that's a smoker for those of you not familiar with them) and it had already been sold :sad1: That's the first time I've ever seen one for sale because people who buy them love them. Turns out the guy who sold it bought a bigger model.

I also saw a Dyson DC-14 purple asking $35 but we already have a DC-07 and I didn't feel the need to have one upstairs and one downstairs.

Got another 3 or 4 neighborhoods to hit tomorrow so Belle is still on my list.

Purseval, you wouldn't pay $8 for a full-length cashmere coat?! You're right, my sister did get value for the money; it gets cold in Maryland in the winter.

I got a purse that has a flower thing on it made out of a zipper for $5 and a wallet for $3. I also got one pair of forever 21 black feather earrings along with 5 other pairs for $1. Along with that I got a set of 4 small scented candles $2, candle with two wicks 50 cents, and tray to put the candles on $2.
