We are having a yard sale on Saturday and I'm spending this week searching for things to sell. My question is this... my Grandma, who passed away in January, had a cabinet full of video tapes, each with 3 movies on them taped mostly from the movie channels, but some are probably copied from other tapes. Can we sell these in the yard sale, or is there a chance we could get nailed with a copyright violation? If we can't sell them, what can we do with over 200 video tapes?

Any opinions would be appreciated. Wish us luck on our sale, the more $$$ we make, the more I have to open my ING account with!

TIA!

I never thought of the copyright question. We had a bunch at our church sale a few months ago and we just sold them for a quarter a piece. We told people that we didn't know what was on them and that they could use them for "soap" tapes.

You could always just put a sign on them saying "free" if you're concerned about copyright. Then at least someone might be able to get some use out of them.:D
