Yard of Beer

Good evening or morning depending on your point of view.

My DH loves the yard of beer in England at Epcot. Does anyone know if they still do this?

We havent been since 2006 and he asked me to find out for him.

My understanding was that the 'Yard of Beer' has been discontinued -- along with other 'refillable mixed drink' cups at Pleasure Island too.

Apparently the Dept of Health was concerned about sanitary issues around refilling the same glass without washing in between etc.

Even if that is not true - I am told the Yard of Beer is no longer offered.

Technically, it was never a yard of beer in the first place. It was a half yard. I have one of them, I hold odd screws, nails, bolts in it.

I love the food and wine fest...They have so many great beers to try from around the world. Last year sam adams had a brew made specific for the fest, I swear it was a piece of heaven...cant wait to see if its the same this year or better; if thats possible. Did anyone try this last year?

You never really buy beer.

You just rent it.

You can still get a yard of beer. You just have to eat at the Rose and Crown to do it and then drink it while there. No more of the walking around and getting refills during the day. And that's basically for the same reason you aren't supposed to use the same plate for refills at a buffet.

Don't get too upset that the yards are gone, everyone! The first time I brough DH to the World several years ago he was SO excited to have these! He got the yard and had several refills, and then out of curiosity one time he ordered a regular beer and poured it into his yard - turns out, it holds the exact same amount of beer as a regular cup, but it costs more!

I dont think this is true...I was there last October and sat at the bar. I asked for one they said they didnt sell them anymore. When were you there that this was any diffrent?

I know I was terribly dissapointed. I had to have the consolation prize. The Liter of beer at the Biergarten. ( But you have to eat inside )

Yes!!! The Biergarten is a must for our family...o.k. Now all of us, but it's a great time. My wife and daughter enjoy the singing and dancing inside and I enjoy the beer. If we don't go to eat, I'll still grab a beer at the little stand out front. It's such a refreshment!!! All I know is eating a full lunch and drinking two of the larger beers in the Biergarten was enough to knock me a little off balance. So keep that in mind!
