Are these the new prices or the old ones?

I buy when they are on sale, so I never know.

Why bother raising the prices? Half the time they are running that buy 1 get 1 or some other special.
Maybe I should use this as a reason to go stock up on some of the christmas ones that are so nice. :thumbsup2

Whoa.. I just told Lauri about this (her store is a Yankee retailer) and she was ticked.

She doesn't have any vendor that raises prices anywhere remotely as high and as often as Yankee. Heck, she said the car jar alone is going from $1.99 to $2.99! That is ridiculous! A 50% increase? Can you imagine if a food manufacturer tried that? Oh, that loaf of bread is going to be increasing in price 50% next month.

Lauri did say that Yankee has been losing followers in her store lately. She's had a lot of converts to the Woodwick Candle line. Has anyone here tried that? Lauri brought home a Biscotti Woodwick candle that smelled SOOO good!

I have never heard of that candle co. before. Are they national or local?? :confused3

I was already annoyed with YC for discontinuing some of my favorite scents and now they have to go and raise prices?!?!? :furious: :furious: :sad2:

I signed up for their email newsletters...I've been getting coupons that way so I never pay full price. But I'm in the same boat...are those the old prices are the new ones? Because a Yankee Candle opened in the mall I work at last month and those are the prices they have.

Life goes on without scented candles. Everybody can stop buying them and live perfectly fulfilled lives :rotfl: Maybe then the company will rethink their pricing policies. I am not sure how this candle craze got started, but several years ago virtually no one bought scented candles. I got one as a gift a couple years ago and it's nice, but I would not waste money on buying a jar with a candle in it :rotfl2:

Jeesh, They are getting as bad as Disney. Remember when they would give you those nice matches in the bag when you got a candle...no more. They do the coupon thing so that they can up their volume. They are attempting to "nibble" you up to the higher price. Mark my words you will eventually be paying 20 a piece for the bogo1/2 and they will sell more candles. It is no longer owned by the man who started it but by another company who bought it out a while ago and I think it went public. Who knows it is probably Disney :rotfl: They have their hand in everything else!

Why oh why oh why do they always increase the price of Yankee Candles :sad2: .

because they can. If you saw the Yankee Candle operation in Deerfield, MA and the type of buildings they recently built and the amounts of employees they hired, you would understand. The founder sold out and they went corporate. They have a home goods division, etc. People will pay it.

I never pay retail for YC. I go to the flagship store about twice a year and hit the seconds section. I'm waiting on them to get rid of that, and when they do, I will go to New England Candle or Pilgrim Candle. Or I'll just make my own. A candle's a candle, no matter who adds the scent.

If you live anywhere near Muncie Indiana, the store behind the mall is going out of business and everything is 75% off. I got lots of christmas gifts there the other day. I am pretty well set for candles for awhile. I hate to hear about the new price increase......

Holy Moly! That's a jump!

We still get the 22 oz jars for $18.95 locally. The 14.5 oz are $13.95.

ETA: Check out Valerie Parr Hill with QVC (QVC.com). She has awesome scents and usually bundles them into packs of 4 for reasonable prices so that you can give them as gifts.

All that for $24.75 (pus shipping and handling). Still a good deal!

Eh, I gave up on Yankees when their quality dropped. Gold Canyon candles kick Yankees' waxy butts--and they're cheaper. Only "bad" thing is you have to buy them through a catalog or home show. But, they ROCK.

Do you have a linens and things store by you? I get 20% off coupons from them for one item all of the time, and they have yankee candles--they used to be excluded from the coupons but not anymore. I rarely buy them anyhow (like the cookie scent and evergreen at Christmas) but never without a coupon.

I only buy them on sale. I really need to learn how to make candles. I bought the stuff awhile ago but haven't used it yet. The supplies are so cheap I can't imagine why they feel the need to charge so much I guess they get a heck of a profit!

Yankee Candles are so expensive now. I will admit that they last a long time, but still that seems steep!

I found some candles that I LOVE that are much less expensive, still burn for a long time, and offer some great unique scents. They are made by Tyler Candle Co. and can be found at various retailers as well as online. A medium jar is $12.50, and a large jar is $18. I believe they are smaller than Yankee Candles, but I don't mind that at all.
