I made my ADR's at 180 day mark. I am considering cancelling my 4:30 Yak & Yeti reservation in November. We are going to eat at Tusker House for breakfast at 8 am. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the quality of food there. We will probably tour AK all day until around 5 pm.:)

I ate there about two weeks ago. I'm glad I tried it but felt the food was good - not great - and for the price, I probably would rather do the Tusker House Dinner or go to Boma, Jiko or Sanaa.

We went for the first time our last trip and enjoyed the food. You get decent sized portions and the food wasn't the traditional "american" type food. I really liked not having to leave the park to eat and the restaurant wasn't overally crowded which was nice too.

Yak and Yeti is my favorite. The food is not superior in anyway, but it good and the atmosphere is cute...you should try it at least once!

We hated it in February. The service was great (our server went above and beyond) but the food was horrible. DH's burger was so bad that he only ate a couple of bites, DD's lo mien was so overpowered with onions that she would not eat (I wouldn't either), DS's nuggets were cold and his fries were gross, my beef and broccoli was dry...it was just bad.

So we are skipping it when we go back in March. The plan is for breakfast at TH at 10, tour AK until closing at 5 and then an early dinner at Citrico's at 6. We figure we'll blow a few snack credits mid day if we get hungry.

The only 2 AK area TS's I've eaten at are Rainforest (2006) and Y&Y (May 2010).

Rainforest I won't go back to until my grandchildren are Tweens. LOL!

Y&Y I would definitely try again. DS18 and I had 11:30a Lunch ADR's on May 13th. (ADRS probably not needed that day).

DS and I love PF Changs...and a loose comparison could be drawn.

We ordered the
Lettuce Wraps (YUM)
Tempura Green Beans (NO...not again...not tempura fried imho)
Ahi Tuna appy (YUM)
and DS got the flank steak/broccoli (The best dish of the meal) (I'm forgetting something)

The food was Good! What I loved about Y&Y that I did not anticipate was the atmosphere... the restaurant is beautiful and looks so authentic... I wandered around before our food arrived enjoying the decor...

Service was good too. I would go back...however will want to try something different next visit as I have SO Much I haven't done at AK/AK resorts...

Another thumbs up here! DH and I went in 2008, he had the crispy honey chicken and loved it, I had tempura shrimp that I really enjoyed. We're not doing much table service on our next trip and it's one that I actually feel a little sad not going back to.

:thumbsup2

Two thumbs up here...three if I had another thumb!

This was a pleasant surprise for me. Food was delicious and the sorbet trio for dessert hit the spot! Atmosphere is unique and our waiter was very great!

We ate at Tusker House that morning....Yuck! I will go back, because the characters are great and my daughter loved it, but it seemed like the simplest of foods..ie..scrambled eggs..had an African twist to it and I wasnt a fan. Its one of those, you either like it or you dont! Even the breads have something sweet or some strange spice baked in.....just thinking of it brings back that taste to my mouth...Ick. The one good thing was that I left there and was not stuffed walking around the park like I was on other days.

I did this exact itinerary last year. We did Tusker House around 8:30am and did Yak & Yeti at 4:30. It did not work well for us. We were all really full from breakfast, so we ended up eating lunch later than usual. Nobody in our party was really hungry for the 4:30 reservation. I was actually disappointed in Yak & Yeti. I found the food quality really poor. I had the honey chicken and found it to taste like frozen chicken nuggets that had just been pulled from the freezer. On the plus side, the wonton dessert was out of this world!

My daughter and I went last July, and had a great time. It felt like it was a million degrees outside, so the a/c was priceless. The service was great and the restaurant was charming. We were seated upstairs by the window, and we could see the Jammin Jungle Parade. I don't want to mislead you - the view of the parade is not great. There is a nice shady tree outside the window, and we looked through the large gap in the branches to see it, but we could definitely see it all. The food was pretty good, especially the dessert. I had the lettuce wraps as an appetizer, and skirt steak for entree. Chocolate cake for dessert. We were on the dining plan, and there is usually too much food with the appetizer, meal, and dessert. However, I've found that it is good for my daughter to get a kids meal, and we split the appetizers and dessert. She is outgrowing the kids meal, so this is a nice compromise for the price.

Mmmmmm.......Yak & Yeti is one of my absolute favorites!!! Food and atmosphere (and adult beverages!) are excellent!!!!!:thumbsup2

We eat here every trip. However, I am upset they removed the Pho from the menu. Another loss of an authentic menu item. Evidently, despite the description, people kept sending it back because they expected "lo mein." :headache: I would skip lunch, perhaps have a snack on that day, to do justice to your Y&Y meal.

I would definitely keep that Y&Y ADR. We ate there last year and really enjoyed it. We all agreed the jasmine rice was probably the best thing we ate, but everything we ordered was good except for the fried rice. I had the Mahi Mahi, DH had the lo mein, and DS the honey fried chicken. We sampled all the desserts and they are all good. Also, with a 4:30 ADR you can have dinner and exit AK with everyone else already being gone. This would give you a great opportunity to get some good pictures.

I love the Yak and Yeti. Made ADR in May and when being seated it was only half full. Went their again during my trip as a walk up and was seated right away. I never find it to be crowed so you might just consider a walk up.

May I just say two words? YAK ATTACK!

I had three of these lucious drinks last year and I'll be back again this year for them. They are so refreshing and delicious.

Oh, by the way...food was really good too.:thumbsup2

This was a great surprise for us. Yummy adult drinks. ;);) We enjoyed the asian ribs and the tempura shrimp with steak. We are going again next month.
