I have ADR"S at Yak & Yeti for 7:45pm. None of the desserts on the menu appeal to me. I am on the basic dining plan, so I don't get an appetizer. But do you think Y&Y will allow me to replace a dessert with an appetizer? I am planning to grab ice cream from anandapur ice cream truck after that for dessert, is anandapur ice cream truck still opened then? please help me with this?

Most places do not let you do that. A lot of places do let you switch out coffee for dessert. And some places, like Sci Fi and 50's Prime Time let you substitute your drink for a milkshake.

I've had the fried wontons and the sorbet, and both were excellent! :goodvibes

Has anyone else had Y&Y ask for your DDP/KTTW, charge it, and have you sign BEFORE taking your order? I never had that anywhere else, but I just assumed it was because it was an Operating Partner instead of a Disney restaurant.

The wonton dessert is truly amazing, and if nothing else you can eat the ice cream! It is delicious, fresh pineapple, strawberries, wontons and the best ice cream! This is our must do dessert! The wontons are more like rangoon, only slightly sweeter, with a cream cheese filling.

The dining plan will not allow you to substitute an appetizer for a dessert.

I'm sorry, but no, Yak & Yeti is very strict about the DDP. You cannot substitute an appetizer for the entree. I agree that Y&Y's dessert menu is lacking...I tried the wontons, but because I don't really like cream cheese they were only okay. I'd have preferred all pineapple or maybe cream cheese-less wontons! :rotfl:

I don't know if this is standard, but when I went, the server had us order everything (appetizer, entree, and dessert) all at one time instead of the more normal order. It was kind of odd ordering dessert at the start of the meal.

One of the hard and fast rules of the dining plan, even at the Disney owned places, is not being able to sub an appetizer for a dessert. Third party places, such as Yak & Yeti, are reimbursed by Disney according to the guidelines of the DDP so there is no way they'll be able to serve an appetizer and get it reimbursed as a dessert.

You can, however, sometimes order an after dinner coffee or tea, or simplify a dessert (e.g. the won ton dessert comes with ice cream and fresh pineapple. You could order just the ice cream and pineapple.) Or you could ask about ordering a child's dessert or plain ice cream because there's usually an ice cream dessert on their menu.

Fried won tons are not like donuts. It's a thin won ton skin filled with cream cheese and fried.

The won tons are my fave dessert in all of WDW!!!!

Trading dessert for an appetizer is not allowed.

You can ask if they are willing to provide a different dessert, like fruit or plain ice cream. If you decide you just don't want to order any dessert, you don't get anything in its place.

How do you have your adr's already? You said in your other post your trip is August of 13. Confused.

Do they have chocolate ice cream. We only like chocolate ice cream. Is there usually ice cream on the menu, because I have never seen this on wdwinfo, allears, or disneyworld.com.

Please tell me if they do have an ice cream menu? Then otherwise I will just try the wontons. Anybody know if your allowed to replace vanilla with chocolate ice cream with the wontons?

I don't recall chocolate ice cream. There is a chocolate sauced sundae on the kids menu and vanilla comes with the wonton dessert. It honestly wouldn't taste as good with chocolate. The vanilla is awesome with fruit and the sweet creamy wontons. My mouth is watering!

Something they do allow that surprised me is you can get virgin specialty drinks (non refillable) instead if a soft drink. I got a strawberry daiquiri and my dh got a piña colada I think.

The only place I've been told no on smoothies or shakes is at the Pepper Market and sometimes they've done it as well. I've had them at Narcoossee's, Portobello, Prime Time and several times at Le Cellier.
