It does? What is it? We were thinking of eating there with the kids, what do we need to wear? I do not want to dress up on vacation, so I will not go if it is like V&A!

oh no! not like V&A. just nice shorts, etc. we went on may and i saw everything from theme park chic to, as mentioned, nicer shorts, polo shirts, etc :earboy2:  .

Basically, no jeans, ripped clothing, tank tops, flip flops, etc. We ate there last week and it was pretty much nice shorts and a collared shirt for men. I would also recommend makind an AR because the night we were there the wait was over one hour for walk-ups.

As per Allearsnet.com you can wear jeans.

Here is what is listed:
"No hats, swim suits, swim suit coveralls, tank tops, T-shirts, torn clothing or flip-flops. You can wear - dress shorts, pants, jean pants, collared shirts, blouses, sweaters, pants."

If your kids arn't used to fine dining, this might not be the time to introduce them to it. If they are, and have no problems with a 90 minute meal, enjoy.

When I made my ADR's for the California Grill and Jiko on Sunday, the CM told me the attire was business casual - no tank tops, no bathing attire.

I'm assuming the Yachtsman Steakhouse has the same dress code.

We have seen everything from shorts & tshirts (people looking like they just came from the parks) to people in dresses and suit jackets.

I think just about anything, within reason goes.

They've only very recently started to enfore the dress code. It's about time.

I've heard it also applies to Flying Fish, Artist Point, and some of the other nicer establishments. I was planning on khaki pants and a polo shirt with casual shoes.

That's what my husband wears to the more upscale places. In the winter he'll even throw on a sports jacket.

I will be eating at Yachtsman on Saturday and Flying Fish on Sunday...

I will report back ;)

A couple thoughts on Dress Codes -
We ate at several of the Dress Code restaurants in April and in August. The only place we didn't see people clearly in "violation" of the dress code was Narcoosees. We saw people in wet bathing suits & wife beaters at AP, people in jailin' jeans & wife beaters at CG....
My experience is they aren't enforcing it yet.

Also of note, I just made ARs for Dec trip to YSH and a couple nights at CG. For NONE of these ARs did the CM mention a dress code. I assumed Disney gave up.

That said, I believe in dressing nicely for a nice dinner & will continue to do so, code or no.

I saw the shorts and tees there in July...and honestly was surprised. I know before I had left on that trip I had heard "resort casual", but it definitely wasnt enforced then. :confused3

Ummm being from across the pond what is a 'wife beater' and what are 'jailin jeans'??? Have been to the US many times but never heard these terms used before.

Wife-beater shirts refer to the ribbed sleeveless white tees that men normally wear under button-down business shirts to prevent sweat stains from forming on good shirts. It's "true" purpose is to be worn underneath business attire, and thus not meant to be "worn out". :rotfl: However, I guess some people are mistaken...

Jailin' Jeans is the practice of wearing saggy jeans so low such that your underwear (or *** crack!) shows.

touringplans.com posted last week that Disney had discontinued the business casual dress code. The only Disney restaurant they listed as having one is V & A's.

If true, that's a good decision--especially if they had no real intention of ever enforcing it.
Never a good thing if you think you MUST dress up, take valuable time to do so, then show up at the restaurant and find you didn't really HAVE to at all.

That was EXACTLY what got my goat at CG, Uncle. We scheduled a birthday party there after a friends outdoor wedding reception. Well, it poured & a couple of our group got their only set of resort casual clothes all muddy. Since they thought there was a dress code, they didn't come to CG & missed my B-Day dinner. When we got there & saw they were definately not enforcing it, we were pretty upset that 2 of us weren't there for no reason at all! By the time we noticed the "underdressed" people, it was too late to call our two & get them over in time (they had went ahead with other dining)

What a shame, Leota!

Interesting news, mrslur.

Now we just need someone to do a little research. :listen: All my ADRs are made for this trip otherwise I'd volunteer to call.
