I would really LOVE to try Yachtsman but our kids will be 2 1/2 and 4 when we go. Is it better to NOT try a place like this with toddlers? Is it a pretty slow-paced meal?

THANKS!

It can be tricky, but really its up to you. We had dinner at the Turf Club at Saratoga one night with our then 11 month old. Dinner was definitely slow because the appetizers and salads were brought out in two separate courses, then the main entre, and then dessert. We did not know it was going to be a slowly paced meal, and towards the end of the meal we were losing DS. However, I am sure we could have sped it up a bit by letting the server know in advance.

I think with a 2 1/2 year old and a 4 year old, you could have them color or play with a new disney toy. That may be a good idea to help occupy them during the meal.

Others may disagree, but I do not think there would be a problem with a 2 yo and 4 yo at Yachtsman. I might make an earlier, rather than later ADR so that it's more family dinner time than romantic dinner time.

It's a steakhouse (very nice one) and I think that the server could make it slow pace or quicker if you prefer. It's at least going to be as long as any nice sit-down meal.

If you're like my friends with kids this age, get out that portable DVD player and earphones so you and DH can have a slower paced meal.

I personally do not think there is anywhere on Disney property that you could not take the kids except for V&A.

Best Wishes!

Edited: You must be like me, planning is 70% of the fun of a Disney Trip. Bless your heart for being 1 year and three months out. I imagine you will make ADR's and change them before it's all done. I know I have and I've only been planning for 4 months.

Well behaved children are always welcome. Just be aware that this is a fairly leisurely meal and the other diners are expecting a quiet, relaxed experience. If your children can handle that for a couple of hours, then by all means bring them. You know your children best.

Most of the TS restaurants are about an hour + for dinner, Yachtsman is a 2 hour dinner easily. We didn't even have dessert and we were there for 2 hours. If you think your kids will be happy and well behaved, then go for it (it is Disney after all) If not, you're probably better off not dropping the money on this type of dinner if you won't be able to enjoy it.

DH & I were there this past May & we were in there maybe 90 minutes, there were a lot of children in there eating with their families. We're leaving this weekend w/ the entire family & I'm bringing my 3 little ones there (2, 4, & 5), you will not have a problem bringing your children. We usually eat between 6 - 7, I'm guessing the later you go, the less kids you will see there. Every restaurant, even the signature ones, give the children crayons & something to color, so they will always have something to occupy them. My kids are always fine at dinner as long as they have something to color & a bread basket to hold them over to their meal! The only signature restaurant I haven't brought the kids to is Citricos, the only reason being is that it just looks a little too fancy for the kids. Enjoy!
