Dining Review:

We were seated a little earlier than our ADR at 5:10 and got a nice table for the 2 of us. Our waitress showed up with a gleaming smile and had a round tray in hand (used for delivering or removing food/drinks). The black tray was situated and held around her waist such that it matched the black uniform around the torso. And, it went downhill from there. I didn't say it, but the person I was with asked the waitress if she was pregnant and how many weeks. The waitress looked dumfounded and said she wasn't pregnant and then looked down and saw the tray next to her belly. The angle was such that it was mistakenly taken for an outline of her belly. I put my hands in my face, put my face down and literally said aloud "that is the only way to recover from saying that". The waitress took it in stride, luckily. Me? I was assessing how much extra tip I will need to perform some sort of damage control. Now to the food....

I got the prime rib and asked for it to be seared a little bit on the outside. It was done just right as too much searing would have the steak come out medium. It came with horseradish and au jous. I also got the Yorkshire Pudding, which was absolutely delicious, but overcooked. We also got the French Onion soup and hot honey roasted brussels sprouts. I didn't try the soup but saw how massive the portion was (they must have used ~1/2 lb. of cheese). I did try the brussels sprouts and they were charred just right with the honey being just enough to give it a sweetness, but not over-the-top.

The star of this dinner was the bread. Onion rolls (hot, not warm) and a garlic bulb cut in half with the cloves roasted inside. The cloves were sweet and spreadable onto the rolls. It was divine.

Drinks were fine. A glass of Riesling and a club soda with cranberry juice.

After some more chatter about the incident and now chuckling about it, we left feeling this was a great meal. The food quality was very good to excellent. The prices were fair and the colors/wood of this restaurant were much more inviting than Flying Fish (which we had the night before).

Now that I had time to re-evaluate our meal, I would score the quality of steak/soup/etc. at a 9, preparation 8, drinks 8, service 10, value even with 20% AP discount, 5, theming 8.

Overall, for me: 8/10. The only change I would do is try the NY strip Pittsburgh style to see how it holds up. And yes, the waitress got an extra tip.
