Dh & I really want to dine here. Our two son's (7&6) will be with us. They won't be swinging from the light fixtures but they are little boys. Most and I stress MOST of the time they are good little children in public. Are these two soooooooo upscale that we will be uncomfortable & most importantly my children will get the "look"? TIA for any responses.

The first time my youngest son went he was 3. He's now 5 and we've been every year since he was 3. He's a real chicken fingers and fries kind of guy and he loves the ones on the menu at YSH. He actually said they were better than the rest of the places he had eaten. They also have a Mickey's dessert puzzle on the menu that comes with a cupcake. It's whited chocolate "puzzle pieces" to put together with "paint" icing on the plate and they get a paint brush to decorate the puzzle with. It's really not messy believe it or not and it kept him busy all through our dessert. My husband said whoever thought of it was a genius.

Just as long as they don't start throwing food or run around the table playing tag, they'll be just fine!! Lots of kids that age at both places.

I have two boys the exact same ages. Not sure how you feel about using the child care, but my kids loved it. Just an idea. Fun break for them to play with other kids, video games and such. I make a PS for 4, just in case, then go to the childcare place, let them look at it and decide where they want to be. They choose to leave us each time and they get fed their chicken nuggets, pizza, etc so it doesn't cost much more than paying for their meals if they did come to dinner. At Simba's club they were having too much fun with video games and art projects and looking at animals outside the window, they didn't eat. We ordered from a list as we dropped off and the Mara brought the food in containers. They just handed them over to us as we left and the kids ended up eating in the room at AKL. Probably wouldn't work out for Neverland club since that is very popular so you may need advanced reservations. For the other places there has always been room and its never seemed packed when we've done it but we are usually in the offseason. I'd rather chance it and not make reservations for childcare because of the 48hr cancellation fee....... worst case, and thats fine too, they come with us to dinner.

Thank you for all the replies. We did the kid program at Vero last summer. Our youngest, then 4 managed to spot us having a drink at poolside. He ran across entire pool area WITHOUT being noticed by the program CM's. I had to go hunt through hotel so see where they had gone to return him to the group. Made me VERY nervous. They both LOVED the program though. I am just not comfortable leaving them again. Think we will go ahead and do both. with the threat of NO DESSERT!!!!!!!!!! if there is any nonsense. Thanks again

I understand. I don't like anything that isn't all enclosed in a room. There may even be a magnetic lock on the door so they can't push it open. Guess I have to get over it this summer since they board a bus and go on a field trip nearly every day in summer camp, but it makes me nervous. We've been lucky and its been really low numbers when we were there. Have a good time.

ReallyFunMom-you are soooo brave. I'd have to go on nerve medication for that. :rotfl2: I send them to a private school so they won't have to ride a bus even though DH works for the school corp. Many heated discussions on that topic. Gray hairs are sure to be here soon for me. :rotfl:

We just got back 2 weeks ago and dined at both of these restaurants w/ds5. There were other children all around and was no big deal. Both were very good meals but our favorite was actually Le Cellier at Epcot. We also really enjoyed Ohana and had a perfect view of the fireworks and great interaction w/the kids. Good luck and enjoy yourself.

thanks lindakmonty. We will also be doing Le Cellier & 'Ohana's . Had a difficult time deciding between Coral Reef & Le Cellier and Kona &'Ohana. Think the boys will enjoy the atmosphere at Ohana. Scared off by the recent bad reviews of CR. Thank you everyone.

I almost cancelled our adr's for CRT as well...but I will tell you. I am so glad I didn't. I agree, the food was not fabulous. It was OK... but we did the last dinner for the view of the fireworks from inside the castle, that was really cool. The lithograph and pictures were great. We really enjoyed it. Probably because we went with very low expectations... we were pleasantly surprised.

we did CRT last summer. Snow White kissed my youngest & it sent him into a tail-spin. He was HORRIFIED, spent the rest of the meal sitting quietly under the table not touching a bite of food. I was however, very amused about the whole thing. One of my favorite pic's is him with those BIG BIG red lip prints. She was good. I've got California Grill lined up for our last night, just Mommy & her boys. Hoping we will experience Wishes from that view. Thanks again

Although narcossees serves "upscale" food, they atmosphere is somewhat casual--not really casual, but the "theme" is seaside restaurant, so there are simple navy tablecloths and wood floors. It's a very comfortable place to take children, especially because it gets pretty loud in there with the open kitchen and wood floors! (drowns out the kids pretty good)lol

Yachtsman is kind of the same way--lots of lighter colored wood--it gave me a somewhat casual feel compared to say, Citricos. Wooden chairs, wooden floor, that kind of thing. I am sure you will fine at both places with children. After all, it is WDW, and children and families are welcome.

Besides, you have to get your kids used to eating in nicer restaurants someday, if not now, when? I am sure you want them to learn how to behave in places like that, and we've all been there with our kids, so most folks are pretty understanding as long as you take them out before they "swing from the chandeliers" as someone said upthread!
