Yachtsman & Flying Fish or FF Twice?

Okay, here's a new question I think.

Flying Fish is our favorite Disney restaurant. (Close seconds are Brown Derby, Citricos). We've never been to Yachtsman.

This year we have a DDX Plan so we can do both Fly Fish and Yachstman. Whenever we go to Flying Fish, I get seafood; every time we go we absolutely have the best experience at FF. Although I've never had their steak which so many seem to rave about.

So here's the question. . .

Would you go to Yachtsman (for steak) and Flying Fish (for seafood)? or would you go to Flying Fish twice, once for seafood once for steak?

(Note, we also have ADR's for Brown Derby, Citricos, CaliGrill, and Le Cellier. We did Narcoosees last time and are choosing to pass this time around.)

Thanks!

I would do YSH and FF. We had a fantastic meal at YSH in October and I love to try new places each trip. Enjoy.:goodvibes

I would do FF, personally. Not the biggest fan of YSH.

Our fav Disney rest. is Citrico's, btw. YUM!

YSH ranks towards the bottom of my list so I'd go to FF twice before going to YSH once. I don't think YSH is awful but it's not that great either. The cuts of meat I've had there have not been that impressive. Only the filet has been good and you can get a filet everywhere at WDW. If you are looking for great steak, you might want to try Shula's at the Dolphin.

Either choice is a win/win situation.
I would go to YSH once and FF once.
But FF twice ain't bad either. We did that one trip. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the feedback.

Unfortunately Shula's and the rest of Swan/Dolphin restaurants are not part of the DDx Plan, so that influences the decision. We've done Shula's in Chicago before as well.

Could you elaborate on cuts of beef quality. I love Filet's so that's usually what I'd get anyway, but who knows when we get there?

How would you rank them plus or minus to Outback as a benchmark, where Outback is a 5 out of 10 - or an average steak place. (I assume a place like Flemings/Ruth's Chris to be about an 8/9 and then a place like Shula's or Chicago Chop to be a 10.)

Thanks!

I personally would go to both. I did that my last trip. YSH has aged steak that you can see on_site. There is a butcher back there cutting up steaks. Very cool and I thought it was one of my better meals at WDW. I think FF is a can't miss restaurant when we go to WDW. I love the place b/c the atmosphere is hectic and fun. My kind of place.

I would go to FF twice but I would be ordering seafood and not the steak. I've been to Yachtsman's and it was good but not something that I would go out of my way for.

I haven't eaten at FF in years, but we will not return to YSH. After 3 attempts we just felt the food was not good. The setting is beautiful, the service was great, but the food was not good.
I would go to FF twice and skip YSH

I would do both. In fact, we do both every trip! Don't worry about not liking Yachtsman, the servers are excellent, excellent food as well. Lots of seafood appetizers, plus seafood entrees if you don't want steak. However, the filet is very good at Yachtsman, as are the potato dishes that come with the steaks. You can choose any potato dish you want, you are not locked into the one on the menu that comes with your steak. I have also have had some wonderful wines at Yachtsman along with flawless service. Last trip we ate at Yachtsman twice (we cancelled Calif Grill due to heavy rain) and had a perfect dinner both times.

Do both! Try something new and then you can decide for yourself whether Yachtsman is for you! (I love both places and have been to both within the last year.)

Do both!

We just did this in december...LOVE FF, had never been to Yachtsman...Just tried Yachtsman, and LOVED It as well. If you are in the mood for steak go to Yachtsman :thumbsup2

Having been to both, I'd have to say the steak at FF was far superior to the steaks at Yachtsman so I'd stick with FF twice!:goodvibes

Flying Fish is our favorite Disney restaurant as well. When DH and I were down for my birthday in September, we decided to try Yachtsman. It was OK, but we will not be back. I would rather go to Flying Fish twice, once for seafood, once for steak!

We don't care for Yachtsman, but we also wouldn't eat at FF twice in one trip either (although we do like it better). Do you have any other options on your plan? My basic advice would be to try different places rather than go to the same place repeatedly, especially one you've been to several times before.

We ate at the FF this past Friday (DS's request), and they served the most amazing NY Strip with Bernaise dribble; in fact it blew away the fish entrees (especially since, at 8:00, the flounder special was already sold out ).
FF would be my vote- just get there a bit earlier on "fish night"!!

Thanks everyone!

FYI - Note, we also have ADR's for Brown Derby, Citricos, CaliGrill, and Le Cellier. We did Narcoosees last time and are choosing to pass this time around.

Do both. You'll find the steak at YSH to be far superior to the steak at FF if that's what you are after. Either way, you get two different dining experiences and you'll like both of them.

I would go to FF twice or what my hubby would prefer is Citrico's twice and FF once.
