Yachtman's Chateaubriand?

This was exactly the item the had us make ressies at Yachtsman in the first place! So few places on property these days have anything really specia and indulgent left! And this is our one nice dinner out on our trip (we leave in less than a week). I am very disappointed! And it is far too late to make other ressies.

Maybe we can get a last minute ressie for Shula's or something else non-Disney which still has some great top-shelf items left on the menu! Disney is losing our business over repeated choices to delete wonderful items like this!

All you have to do at the Yachtsman is ask the server to ask the kitchen to make it for you

I already have ressies at Cali Grill, Le Cellier and Citricos. Ill be having enough Filets / Steaks at these places. I too was only going for the chateau briand. I guess I will have to eat funky ravioli! :confused3

Excellent suggestion; this is what I intend to do if the chateaubriand is not "officially" on the menu when we're there!:thumbsup2

I think we will go this route as well. I may even stop by the restaurant a few days before or call to see if I can make arrangements for us to have this for dinner.

I agree that dining at Disney is no where near as special as it has been in the past while it has certainly become more expensive for those of us who don't use the dining plans.

I'm thinking the dining plan has struck again and ruined yet an other fav of ours. We were at CA Grill last week and our fav dessert has been cut...server said it was too labor intensive. I don't do the dining plan and feel that I shouldn't be penalized for Disney losing $$$. I know that logistically the wait staff would be going crazy (like before) explaining what you can or can't have on the DP. Sorry for venting.

I agree 100 percent and understand your frustration as well ('cause I am right there with you!).

Is Free Dining over yet? Maybe the chateaubriand will make an appearance back on the menu then.

You would think that the bean counters would want expensive entrees like this on the menu come the holiday season.:confused3

This is a cut of meat they have to have in stock. If it isn't on the menu, they don't have it. Otherwise it would be sitting back there spoiling.

But the chateaubriand is made with filets, can't really see Yachstman Steakhouse not having filets. Tink 901's advice is on the money, she's the one I mentioned as having a fiance/husband that is a chef there.

The Chateaubriand has been on and off the menu since long before the DDP started. That's been going on for years.

The DDP has been around since 2005. If your favorite dessert at CG has recently been removed, it seems likely to me that the DDP is not to blame. :confused3

Chateubriande is made from one large filet. Filets are usually already cut to size when delivered. So if it is not on the menu, they are not getting the cut. At least this is how it works at other steakhouses, like El Gaucho.

What was your favorite dessert at CA Grill?

Wow, all this talk of Chateaubriand. . .my fave meal on property is the Cobb Salad at HBD and the Tuna Carpaccio at Bistro de Paris . . . of course I am not a big cow fan. . .lol.

Some steakhouses take primal cuts and dress them down to the cuts they use on the menu. It's cheaper for restaurants to buy primal cuts or sides of beef and do the remaining cutting themselves but it's getting to be a lost art. It is probably worth asking at Yachtsmen just in case they do their own cuts you might catch them on a night when they have it available. We are certainly going to try next month when we are there. We've been looking forward to it since March.

Based on both of your recommendations, I will certainly ask!! Can't heart!

Your are correct my fiance is the Chef of the restaurant. They do always have filets at you stated - they still hand cut their steaks daily and freshly prepare food daily.

Tink901 now you're just making me hungrier!!

And good news. Thanks everyone!

Trust me I understand - I can't wait until I move and can just go over for dinner when I really want a filet and gratin potatoes. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info,I just wanted to clarify the situation somewhat.

On the dis menu it shows the chateaubriand as being available. Some people here are saying it is no longer on the menu. My Gf and I booked this as a replacement for the Cali Grill and were looking forward to having this meal. We are only going to the Yachtsman for this entree. I don't want to turn up and find out that it isn't being served so should I switch to another restaurant to save myself the disappointment? Unless of course somebody can confirm they are still serving this entree?

Hopefully that sounded ok.....I just dont like leaving things to chance really. I am so close to going and i have enough things to worry about:rotfl:

DH and I would love to try the chateaubriand, however neither likes Bernaise sauce. Anyone know if can substitute it for a bordelaise type sauce?

I ate there on 11/11 and it was NOT on the menu. We planned on ordering in and were dissapointed. That said, we had Wagyoo (sp?) steak which was from Australia and is like Kobe beef from Japan. It was WONDERFUL and served with truffle mashed potatos. The chedder rissotto and scallops for appetizer was the most delicious thing I have had in a LONG time.

Hopefully they will bring back the chateaubriand for the holiday season.

It has been removed from the menu - if you ask your server to ask the kitchen for it - they can make it for you. They do hand cut their steaks which is why it can usually be done. On line menus are not always right the menu's at the restaurants can change more than they are posted due to seasonality or availability.

You can change sauces and ask for any others that they have on the menu - just tell your server when you place your order. I always ask for mine on the side.

They were great about doing that when our girls ordered it. BTW, tell the kitchen that the mushrooms are the greatest! My mouth is watering now thinking about the food there.
