I need some help from the Yacht Club experts.

I saw on another thread that someone recommended asking for "a garden view on the lake side" at the Yacht Club.

Would this be considered a standard view room?

Thanks a lot!!

Hi Kathy,

This is from allearsnet.com. Sounds like a garden view room is more expensive than a standard view room:

There are three views available: The Standard view, the Garden view, and the Water view. Normal rooms can be booked for Standard or Water view. Concierge level rooms can be booked for Garden or Water view.

Standard view rooms overlook the nicely landscaped parking or wooded areas around the hotel. Garden view rooms typically overlook the slightly nicer areas around the quiet pool, or even the wedding gazebo. Water view rooms have a direct view of Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk. Some of the Water view rooms are located just above Stormalong Bay and may be a bit noisy during the day. Note also that not all water view rooms offer a direct view of the lake and the Boardwalk. Many are at right angles to the lake, making it often difficult or impossible to see the Boardwalk. If you should book a Water view room, don't be disappointed if you don't have a direct view of the lake.

I am not a YC expert by any means but I have been doing research for our trip in May. My understanding is that they only have "garden view" category at the concierge level. With regular rooms there are only two different categories, water/pool view and standard view which would include views that don't include water of any kind.

We booked standard but I want to avoid a parking lot view so my room request states something like "marina side" (I wanted to keep it very simple since I also need non-smoking and a crib!). I am assuming - definitely not an expert as I said - that anything not looking over the parking lot is considered a garden view.

Here's a website that shows the room layouts of YC so you can see what is considered a standard room for yourself: http://www.disneyzone.net/ycresort.htm

HTH and good luck!

Thanks for the responses.

Unfortunately, there were no standard view rooms available at the Yacht Club so we're now booked at the Beach Club.

YC concierge has both garden and water view rooms. If you have a garden view booked, I would definitely request something on the back (marina) side to ensure no parking lot view.

The concierge at the YC also has standard view, rooms that are directly over the portico looking at the incoming cars. I know this as I've been assigned the rooms here! It's amazing what the YC considers waterview. Our last room overlooked a roof and if we slanted our heads we saw storm-a-long-bay! It was the worst view but the only connecting rooms they had left so we had no choice but to take it.

They used to have standard and garden views, 2 different prices. They combined them a few years ago into standard. Not just YC, but at most of the resorts to simplify the rate structure. The info on allearsnet is probably outdated.

Do any of the Water View Concierge rooms accomodate 5? Right now I'm in a Standard Concierge Room. When I booked I just assumed the lounge would have a water view. Now I know they don't and I remember seeing something that indcated the Water View room only accomodated 4 people.

Wendy,

When I booked for my family of 5, I had the choice of both views. To be sure, just drop an e-mail to Alana or whoever you are working with in pre-planning. They are wonderful and would be happy to see what's available for you.

Tammi,

I'm not working with anybody, yet. I made my reservation about 2 week ago for August. When do they usually contact you? I'm not in any hurry since I have no idea what PSs I want. I'm just curious when they usually send out preplanning information.

What view did you choose and were you happy with it?

Thanks

Wendy,

Here is the information for the YC/BC/BW pre-planning staff WDW.YBBW.Concierge@disney.com. They are wonderful to work with. I would go ahead and send them an e-mail to introduce yourself. If you made the reservation through a TA, they won't have your mailing address, so make sure you give it to them. They sent out a huge packet of information to me. It contained park maps, recreation guides, enternmaint, resort information, a pre-planning questionnaire and an elevator key so that you can access the private concierge floor for check-in. They made planning the trip so much fun and had some great ideas.

We were there in December for only a few days, so I went ahead and booked the garden view knowing that we probably wouldn't be spending much time on our balcony anyway. Not sure if you've seen this site http://www.disneyzone.net/ycresort.htm, but they have the floor and room layouts. Concierge is on the 5th floor and we had room 5228. It was a hike to the lounge and elevators and we overlooked the convention roof, the employee break area and the parking lot. I think there's only 11 rooms that are considered garden, but are on the marina side of the resort. And out of those 11, I'd say room #'s 5148, 5150, 5152 and 5154 are probably the nicest. You might want to take a look at the maps on the link and then decide which view would be best for your family.
