Yacht Club or Boardwalk Inn?

THIS! This is exactly what I was going to say. Boardwalk was a consideration for our next time until I saw the clown pool. Nope, no way. Plus, the YC pool with the Shipwreck slide looks amazing!

Yeah. No on that pool. I don't do clowns. And that is the kind of clown that has that creepy dark closet popping out at you, Steven Spielberg IT, kind of vibe!

Yep, exactly. **shudders**

I've stayed at Yacht Club and Beach Club, but not the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk is slightly more convenient to Hollywood Studios (depending where your room is) if you are a walker. I find the layout of the YC/BC more appealing and more accessible to restaurants. It's a turn off to me that if you stay at the Boardwalk you have to walk out to the "street" to get to restaurants. I believe they have a coffee bar set up in the lobby though. I don't think either resort has a typical sit down breakfast at the moment (Captains Grille being remodeled and Trattoria Al Forno turning into a character breakfast), which for us is definitely a negative. The bar outside of Yachtsman's Steakhouse and Beaches and Cream are great casual options.

Stormalong Bay is lovely, however IMO it has an odd layout. To ride the main slide you have to walk across the path in your bathing suit - no thanks! The lazy river is nice, but tiny. If you have littles with you the sandy area can't be beat though. The hot tubs get full quickly. I think Boardwalk has bigger ones.

You really can't go wrong with either - walking to Epcot for dinner is the best!

FYI - Captains Grille is being temporary located to Ariels in the BC during renovations.

As for the OP. I've stayed at both and enjoyed both. They each have things I like and dislike. The one think I didn't like at the YC was the lack of a place to get a quick bite or eat. The walk from the YC to the BC Maketplace seemed to take forever. They are now adding food to the shop at the YC. I also hated that SAB was closed at 10pm in the summer. But now that all of the pools are fenced it's an issue everywhere.

We spent 2 nights at YC in December and loved it. The pool was a big hit with my kids (they are old enough that I don't feel the need to keep them within direct view), and I liked the relaxed, luxurious vibe (no conferences at that time, so maybe it's different in summer?).

With that said, I am also curious about BWI - it looks like a great choice too. OP - my comment is whether it is of interest (and feasible) for you to do a split stay?

I have stayed at both with my family of 5. Hands down, Yacht Club if only for the pool. It is wonderful and HUGE! There is also waitresses that can serve meals and drinks by the pool. We found it difficult to find lounge chairs at the Boardwalk one of the days that we arrived in the afternoon..I found both settings pleasing and room size comparable. I will say the quick service options are a little more easily accessible (IMO) at yacht/ Beach club.
