Have been to Poly concierge and loved it--very kid friendly, great selection of food/drink, great cast members. How does YC concierge compare in terms of kid friendliness (kids are 9, 7 4) and what are the food/drink offerinngs? Thanks

We (daughter, age 8, and I) at the Yacht Club concierge-level in August 2001. There was no separate kid's table that I've read is available at the Polynesian. However, there were definitely kid-friendly foods (PBJ sandwiches, chicken fingers). In the morning, the television would be on the Disney Channel or Toon Disney. Videotapes of Disney movies were also available.

all4wdw, we have stayed at the Polynesian concierge 3 times. It is great for our family of 5. Our kids are a little younger than yours (6,3 and 1). We had a reservation at the YC concierge last year. We decided to go on a tour to see if we wanted to stay at the Polynesian or keep our reservation at the YC. We decided after taking a tour that we would rather stay at the Polynesian. It wasn't because we didn't like the YC, it was just that the Polynesian was better for our needs. I don't know if your needs are the same but here were some of the reasons:
We spend most of our time at the MK and we have a stroller so it was better for us to have the monorail to take to the MK and Epcot.
I think the Hawaii bldg is the best location at the Polynesian, it is right next to the beach, the pool, the boat and close to the GCH. If we were staying at the YC it would have been a hike to SAB.
I also prefer the lounge in the Hawaii bldg, it's huge and you can't beat the view:) The lounge in the YC is small and there is no view.
I also like the simple layout of the Hawaii bldg. The YC has many halls, and I didn't want to have to walk to far to the lounge.
Those were some of the main reasons why we stayed with the Polynesian concierge. Your needs might be different.
Our needs will change once our children are older and we don't need a stroller.
The YC seemed fine for families. I would stay there, but like I said some things were just more convenient for us at the Polynesian.
We are going to give the BC a try this summer. I'm still debating on doing concierge or not?

We stayed in both Concierges during the same visit (it was 2 1/2 yrs. ago, though). I have 2 kids who were 2 and 5 at the time. My sister and her family came along, too (2 kids, ages 4 and 2). We all preferred the YC. There were plenty of things for the kids at YC. One neat thing was huge, fresh-baked cookies each afternoon. The Poly staff wasn't nearly as accomodating as the YC staff. One weird thing (we all thought), we couldn't get a beer at the Poly Concierge - they only had wine. They told us to go buy it at the pkg. goods store, which really teed us off, considering how much we paid for Concierge. At YC, if they didn't have something, they'd go get it for you! We all came away hating the Poly and loving the YC. Also, Stormalong Bay (the YC pool) alone is worth staying there. My kids also loved the boats to MGM and Epcot.

along the same lines, which is better BC or YC concierge?
(truth is, i never knew that BC had concierge rooms)...

For all the reasons stated except for the kids' ages. Our children are older (teen & pre-teen now). We've been staying at Polynesian conc since they were little. Last year we did BC and Polynesian.

The larger lounge at Polynesian, it's proxmity to MK (even though EPCOT is the adult favorite park), the transportation options, the lower price for concierge service, and the atmosphere make it our choice.

BC was nice, I have no complaints about the staff, etc. I didn't like the maze of hallways, the distance to SAB and the lounge, and the lounge was very small with more limited service. As to the cookie issue--Polynesian has those large, fresh-baked cookies, too.

The beer issue is absolutely correct, we've had NO luck getting beer at the conc lounge at Polynesian. We also had NO luck getting beer at BC either (or BWI for that matter). I'm not sure how Wilmabud managed that feat--but I'd like to be let in on the secret! :D We ask every year and every year (at all concierge services we've stayed) the answer is the same--they have a contract with wine distributors that do not permit them to offer beer (yeah, right--and WDW isn't built on a swamp. . .).

We'll be back at the Polynesian in 113 days--can't wait!

We've stayed at both and enjoyed each one very much. THe deciding factor for us is which parks we plan to spend most of our time. As our son became older, we preferred YC/BC because we spend more time at Epcot and MGM than MK.
