The Regatta Club/Club Level
Yacht Club
June 25 - 28, 2014

We recently stayed three nights at the YC-CL. We then moved over to WL-CL for 8 nights. This was our second YC-CL stay and both times we were upgraded. The first time from a Garden View room and this time from a Standard View room. Both times we were upgraded to a Water/Pool View room.
SPOILER ALERT!
Don't bother skipping to the end - I'm going to mention right up front that we don't plan on returning to YC-CL. Our main reasons why we don't plan on returning:
~The Regatta Club lounge: It's too small, too crowded, the TV is often obnoxious and there isn't even a trash can or tray for your dirty dishes and the evening appetizers aren't varied enough. DH likes the new "bartender service," but I prefer the old self-service method.
~We love water views, but dislike pool views. When you book a Water View room at YC, you have a chance of having a SAB/pool view instead which we don't like due to the noise. That's why we have never booked a Water View at YC, but each time we've been upgraded to one.
~The 5th floor rooms are not in acceptable condition and they are long overdo for a rehab.
~The hallways are depressing and dirty.
~The Club Level staff (NOT the lounge staff nor the non-CL CMs) seemed uninspired and most did not make us feel very welcome.
~The Ship Shape Health Club is too small to accommodate guests from two resorts and (at least in the early morning) is very crowded. Cups for water were often depleted and the garbage was over-flowing early morning with dirty cups scattered around the facility.
~Rooftop views: From the hallway windows (that aren't frosted) and from 5th floor rooms.
We arrived by car and we were escorted by a CL Runner up to the 5th floor. DD and DH checked out the lounge while I checked-in. The upgrade was rather unceremonious as I wasn't informed of it. When I was signing my invoice at check-in, I noticed the upgraded room category. I asked the CM if we had been upgraded, but she said she didn't know. I just wanted to make sure there weren't any additional overcharges related to the upgrade and there weren't.
The rest of the check-in was rather slow and mildly contentious. We have close to 15 MBs in our MDX account as Passholders and for 2013-2014 room-only bookings. DH prefers to use a KTTW card, which we know guests can still request. The CL CM was confused about my request for KTTW cards and refused to give me any. She said it wasn't allowed (not true) and she had to ask her manager, who had to then make a call, who then confirmed what I knew and finally gave us KTTW cards. This hasn't been an issue at WL, but was at YC. However, at YC they were able to imprint the KTTW cards with our names, but at WL, the CL no longer has this ability. None of this was a big deal, but wasn't a great way to start our vacation.
Our room wasn't ready, but we had an ADR for Beaches and Cream. Our server was great and the food was tasty. I loved that I could get a fat-free shake which tasted delicious.

We finished our meal and headed to Epcot to use our FP+s. We got the text that the room was ready a few minutes after leaving B&C. We went to our room, 5239, after an afternoon at Epcot.

The view was gorgeous when looking straight out:

When looking down or to the left or right, you saw this:

The room was in need of a deep cleaning. There was an accumulation of dust and dirt on all the baseboards and the bathroom tile and caulking around the toilet was stained. There were also small pieces of debris/garbage on the carpeting and tile.
The iHome clock did not illuminate at all. The dimmer must have broken and stayed stuck in the "off" mode. I reported this to a CL CM our first day, but it was never repaired/replaced. The tall lamp near the bed was barely able to stand upright and looked like it might keel over at any moment.
I had only requested that we not have a connecting door. When the upgrade was confirmed, I asked if the room had a connecting door and was told that it did. I wasn't unappreciative of the upgrade, but we really wanted a room, any room, without a connecting door. I was told that the resort was at 100% occupancy and no rooms without connecting doors were available. Luckily, we didn't hear our neighbors at night/morning, only during the day, so it wasn't a problem.
What was a problem was the amount of garbage and dirty linens that lined the hallway on a daily basis. Whenever we would walk to/from our room, every few doors there would be dirty dishes. While some of the dishes were from room service, most of the dishes were from the lounge. I don't know if housekeeping or guests or both were piling the dishes outside the doors, but they were omnipresent and unavoidable.
Bags of dirty linens, garbage and towels lined the hallways and this is what greeted us everyday outside our room:
