Fans of The Young and the Restless may soon be doing a double take -- and not for the reason they might think. Actress Sean Young will join the cast in June as part of a mystery involving Victor Newman. Young is best known for appearing in the film Blade Runner.


The new trend on soap operas seems to be the arrival of big name movie stars. In June, actress Sean Young will join the cast of The Young and the Restless. It will mark Young's first foray into the world of daytime drama.


On The Young and the Restless, Young will play the role of Maggie, a sultry barmaid who ends up involved in a mystery with Victor Newman.


"Getting the chance to work with my dear friend Eric Braeden (Victor Newman), one of the true gentlemen in entertainment, was certainly a deciding factor for me," the 50-year-old Young told People magazine, "as well as wanting to get back to work after taking a few years off to raise my kids."


This is not the first time that Young and Braeden have worked together. They both appeared in the 2007 Civil War drama, The Man Who Came Back, in which Braeden starred and served as executive producer.


Earlier this year, Academy Award-nominated actress Julianne Moore returned on As the World Turns, the soap on which she got her first big break. Last year, James Franco appeared in a story arc on General Hospital.


In related casting news, last week, David Hasselhoff announced that he'd be reprising his role as Snapper Foster on Y&R sometime in June.


A first airdate for Young has not yet been announced.

As far as yesterday is concerned, I did like watching them all gather at Jack's to discuss the whole situation. And I am so loving the Vicki and Billy affair ... those two are AWESOME together.

BUT on the flip side ... the fact that we all had to watch Sarah/Lauren and Patty/Emily plot out the murders of Phyllis and Michael ... was absolutely the BIGGEST WASTE OF OUR TIME ... and besides it is IDIOTIC.

You know I am all for big name actors coming to Y&R as long as the s/l's that bring them to GC are FABULOUS. We soooooooooo deserve a FABULOUS s/l right about NOW!

I have always LOVED James Franco and when I heard he was going to be on General Hospital, I tuned it in and LOVED IT!

I watch ATWT & missed Julianne Moore as Frannie ealier this year - darn! Hey speaking of ATWT (yes I know there's an ATWT thread) - this mystery kid that is Craig's son - who is his mother? I've only seen it 2-3 days a week lately & missed something.

•Daisy is asked to stop Daniel from coming to see Phyllis, she ends up drugging his drink
•Amber is reunited with her son Eric (Little D). Apparently, Tawny ditched him for a man
•Kevin decides to go back to the amusement park where Lauren and Jana are being held hostage
•Jana's headaches get more severe, Ryder wants to let them out but discovers his keys are missing
•Chance questions Patty about Adam's accomplice, he suspects her and thinks she should be a prime suspect
•Phyllis starts to freak out when her phone stops working, the power is out and someone's trying to open the door
•Patty makes plans to meet Michael at his apartment thinking this will all be over with soon

Next - Jack tells Ashley that he would know if the woman he is sleeping with is Patty (what an idiot!) ; Michael tells Patty she is the one that needs a psychiatrist ; Kevin asks Murphy and Katherine if they want to Ouija with him, the poor couple looks lost

Dr. Jasper tells Jack .. Patty still insists she's Dr. Emily Peterson.

Baldwin's

Michael snaps at Patty & tells her she's the crazy one .. not Lauren.

Michael tells Patty that Phyllis made Sarah leave.

Patty thinks she's been tricked & before she leaves Michael .. she warns him to stay away from "Lauren".

Tack House

Phyllis drops her cell phone & crawls over to hide in the storage room.

Sarah finds Phyllis but can't break into the storage room.

Sarah leaves.

Michael arrives & Phyllis tells him Lauren tried to kill her.

When Michael & Phyllis call Lauren (Sarah) they hear "Pop Goes The Weasel" in the background.

Michael & Phyllis head for the Zoo.

Later, Abbott Mansion

Jack confronts Patty & says: How'd you do it, Patty ?
