i really hate it when people say "gay means happy." no, it doesn't. yes, over a hundred years ago it meant happy, but today it does not. gay means homosexual. and some people use it to mean stupid, but it doesn't mean happy.

ok when did this turn into a discussion over gay. gay means happy stupid and homosexual! happy? it all depends on who you talk to. talk to a sixth or seventh grade boy its stupid like "you like this movie? thats gay!" but if you talk to a person from like the midevil times there gonna be like "o hat a gay old time" like happy. but then a guy who just realized hes gay would say like "im gay" not im homosexual and people would realize hes not stupid or happy. it depends on the context

im not "popular" but im at the top of the social pyramid and allllll the people i know and talk to think disney is awesome! we all have been and those of us that havent wish they had and we all want to have a classs trip to dinsye senior year and to us its amazing! come to my schoool! youll fit right in!

Anyway, maybe they just don't like Disney? Or maybe they do and just don't want to talk about it all the time.

Either way, there are people who don't like something you love. I find the best way to go around that is to find something that both parties like and talk about that.

Well I don't completley express my obsession with Disney to just everyone, but I did do a speech on it. ( I got an 86 instead of a 98 because I went like two minutes overtime. That's what I get for over achieving!) But no one at my senior high school makes fun of it. The orchestra, band, and chooir go to wdw during spring break so most poeple like it.

If they think it's ridiculous it's just because they've never been or wandered around like zombies when they were there because they had no idea what they were doing. Or they're just jealous.

They'll get over it in a couple of years, I mean to most teens Disney does say "baby". When they get older they'll find out it doesn't matter what other people think and just do whatever the heck they want and not tease people with immature comments.

It's just the age. Don't let it bother you because it won't matter in a few years. Much easier said than done, I know.

IMO, those who don't like Disney are missing out a lot on what life has to offer. It's magic and embodies the whole notion of being a child at heart. That is one of the best qualities someone can have.

Funny that you should mention being in 7th grade. When I was in 7th grade, I was a big Disney fan. I'm still a huge Disney fan, six years later. The difference is that back in 7th grade, I was hugely vocal about my love for all things Disney. I wore Disney clothes, spoke incessantly about upcoming movies, listened to almost exclusively Disney music, and anticipated my upcoming trips to Disney Parks.

I got made fun of. Alot. By everybody I knew at school. Even though most of the kids I went to school with had been to, and liked, Walt Disney World and most Disney movies, it didn't stop them from making fun of me every chance they got. They called me "gay with Walt Disney" (for the record, I am not gay) and made jokes about Disney characters doing really bad stuff. Eventually the Disney-bashing tapered off, but the kids still made fun of me all the time and, every so often, Disney.

I went to school with those kids up until grade 9, and then I moved (not because of them, but because of my parent's careers), so I don't deal with them anymore. I've often wondered just why they were so mean. At a glance, they seemed like pretty normal people, just like me. We all came from families of generally the same income, so it's not like it was rich kids making fun of poor kids or vice versa. My mom has many a time told me that I'm just "too nice." I don't really think I'm nice enough to be called too nice to fit in, but I can't really think of any other reason either. I'm certainly not mean. I don't drink or smoke or take drugs either so maybe that was it, but there weren't any drugs or anything back in grade 7 either so then again that probably wasn't it.

So if you take my mom's theory, which is that I'm just "too nice," and apply it to Disney, it kind of makes sense in a way. Kids made fun of me because I was just a nice guy who represented nice things. Kids make fun of Disney because Disney is just a really nice thing that brightens the world. Of course, there's no logical reason why anyone would want to put down something good like Disney, so all of this is a bit unfounded.

So, in closing, I wholeheartedly agree with all of your points, but can't answer your question as to why anybody calls Disney "gay" or "stupid" or "immature" or anything else rude or derogatory.
And my advice to you? Stay strong. Enjoy Disney. Laugh and be happy, and smile right in their faces

but in all honesty, dont let people in high school get you down. YOUR NEVER GOING TO SEE THEM AGAIN. people dont care what you like after high school.

just look at them and laugh for caring so much about what you like. dont worry about whats cool.

I think that alot of people say it's "gay" or "immature" because they're scared to admit that they actually like it, which is stupid because people shouldn't care what people think of them. Obviously some people don't like it but alot of people of our generation grew up with Disney and you tend to like things you grew up with because it brings back memories and stuff.

But dont let their opinions get you down, at least you're not scared to admit what you like

Honestly I think its because they wish they could go but they cant so they are just jelous. Right now im all about disney with a friend at school.(i think im getting her roped into the awsomeness), and she was all like " Im glad you know what you are doing with your life but there is more to life than disney".

I know that to me personally, Disneyworld isnt just an amusment park, its like a home, its an experience; and the people that go into disney expecting your typical amusement park and dont look at anything else around them, would be somewhat surprised. Disney is much much more than rides. its the experience! its the adventure. its the magic of everything. so anyone that says its stupid or dumb or babyish, chances are they went to focus only on the thril of the rides, and missed out on everything else. so consider yourself lucky to have the gift of Disney, to know and understand what thats like. theyll come around someday.
