Yay NIGHT TRAIN!!!

But I think I can live without seeing the "Hulkie" dance ever again...or those dudes packages in the spandex capri length jumpsuits.

I know! I feel like I know more about some of them than I did about my last boyfriend.

2-1 Slovakia right now in the bronze medal game. I'm pulling for them because it'd be nice to see ex-Blues Demitra, Handzus, and Bartecko win medals.

Now 4-3 Finland with 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd. Not sure what got into the Finns but they're looking impressive now!

Just got home from dinner, and was looking forward to watching this, but looking at this program...ugh, it seems like it was kind of boring with a few exceptions. I thought the Gala was supposed to be more fun and lighthearted, and feature more mainstream music.

I agree that its unforuntate that the world didn't get to see Johnny Weir skate his exhibition number! (Lady GaGa's "Poker Face")

I wish I could watch more coverage from tonight, but it's off to work for me!! But I found out I get off an hour earlier than I though (5:30AM) which means I may actually get sleep before the Gold medal hockey game tomorrow.

I'm a little sad this means that the Olympics are almost over though :(

I am addicted to curling!! I don't know what to do with myself now that it is over :lmao: We did find a Wii game tonight that has a curling game on it, I will see if that gives me the fix I need.

Do you get any Canadian channels where you live? The Brier (the Canadian men's championship) starts March 6th (in Halifax!) and the Worlds are shortly after that.

Was the 36 in a non-boycotted Olympics? If so, that is even more impressive.
The 36 was by the Germans in 2002.

Keep in mind the metal totals get inflated because they keep adding events. When the Germans won 36, there were 234 total metals. There will be something like 258 this year.

Last time the US had the most metals was in 1936 Lake Placid, when we won 12 of the 42 metals. When the Olympics returned to Lake Placid in 1980, we also won 12 metals. Out of 115.

Not to take anything away from the 2010 US team, which has been amazing. Just putting things in perspective.

I live an hr or so north of Seattle so I have been watching alot of the Olympics on CTV, if they play the Championship on there I just may have to watch ;) Thanks for the scoop.

I believe there are many games that are webcast from the Brier. Check out the Curl Canada website or do a search for the Tim Horton's Brier in Halifax NS.

On last night's game, I loved that the crowd singing Oh Canada before the last rock and John Morris fighting back the tears after his last stone. John has come a long way from his on-ice temper tantrums.

Way to go Canada!!!

If you really want to put things into perspective, consider that the best athletes in the US do not go into these sports. It is pretty astounding that we have had this recent success in the winter olympics with that in mind.

What Canada has done this year is even more astounding. My hat is off to Canada - they really stepped up. This has been a great olympics, and they raised their game to match the venues... :thumbsup2

I know, me too. They went by soooo fast! :sad2:

And in honor of the men's hockey team playing for the gold today we watched Miracle last night. hehe Love that movie! Wish I would've been born when that happened...

There's a pretty big article in the paper about the hockey game today...I thought these last few lines were kind of cute:

"But if we had to lose to anybody," Scott Campbell said, "we would only want to lose to the U.S. Why? Because you're our friends."

And what if the unthinkable occurs Sunday? What if Team USA beats Canada for a second time in eight days and deprives the Canadians of Olympic glory?

"We'll mourn for about two weeks," Kyle Campbell said. "And then we'll say, 'Well, we taught them well. They're learning our game.' "

SO sad that the Olympics are almost over. I enjoy the summer Games, but nowhere near to the extent that I love the winter ones. I'll enjoy today but I gotta confess, I'm going to be in a bit of mourning when tonight's over. :sad1:

Oh man, me too! I'm going to miss it so much...last night's gold medal match was awesome.

I've been an Olympic addict this time around - I've been very impressed with both the CTV/TSN/Rogers TV coverage and the official Vancouver 2010 website - it's made it easy to see everything. (Although the CTV Olympic Morning stuff is pretty fluffy)

I hope there will be decent coverage of the paralympic games next month because I'd like to watch some of those too
