I've switched from the Canadian coverage to NBC, to see an 'outsider's view' of the festivities. It's very interesting!!

That's cool to have the option! What's the Canadian coverage like? Are you going to be joining in the - what was it - uncharacteristic patriotism? I hope so!
Wow, nice piece NBC had about the relationship between the US and Canada just now. It makes me want to pack up and go back to visit right now. And the bit about everything that the Canadians did to help in the aftermath of Sept. 11 had me a little weepy, too.
Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili dies from practice crash...

The Canadian coverage is huge - they've had the torch relay on ALL day.
As an American that moved to Canada, for the small size of people in this country (comparable to California for population) I find people to be very patriotic - maybe not loud all the time, but LOTS of flags everywhere. Canadians will show lots of passion during the games for sure.![]()
We're a fiercely patriotic people, just in a very quiet way. I think the way we handle the repatriation of our lost soldiers is the perfect example!
I've loved watching the torch relay again. I didn't realize what a windind trip it made through the country! Especially up to Alert and through Nunavut and all that.
The repatriation is absolutely touching and beautiful. What a way to honor the fallen.
I must say, as an American from the US (because really, you are Americans too, as are a lot of other countries!), you are a wonderful and kind group of people who I am proud to have as our neighbors to the north!
My only negative comment thus far is that I'm really not liking this version of O Canada. The tempo was just fine in the French verses, but it's like she's kind of arbitrarily slowing down random syllables in English.
But that's just MO.![]()
Totally agree!! I thought it was awful!!My only negative comment thus far is that I'm really not liking this version of O Canada. The tempo was just fine in the French verses, but it's like she's kind of arbitrarily slowing down random syllables in English.

I just had to switch back to Canadian coverage, cause NBC went to a sudden commercial. WTH?? Our aboriginal people deserve coverage too! lol!
I thought she had a very nice voice, but I had to look up the words because I could only make out about half of them!
ETA - the stage was really neat looking - I like the "ice" holding it up
Is it bad that I'm finding the speaker from the Slaywatooth people decidedly yummy?![]()
