I'm so bummed! I made ressies for my group at 180 days out at California Grill as I had been planning for months. Then, the number in my group increased from 4 to 5. Sadly, a larger table was not available. No sweat. Dd really missed 1900 Park Fare during our summer visit and asked if we could go there on Xmas Eve. A visit to the Grand Floridian on Xmas Eve sounded good, so I booked. Got the time I wanted and everything. Now, all the reviews for the newly reopened 1900 have been mediocre at best; AND ds' are starting to revolt against a princess meal. I caved today and tried for either a cancellation at CG or Boma, but neither was available. I wonder if there will be more cancellations at the 45-day mark, and I might obtain a different ressie then???

I haven't read any of the reviews of the new 1900 Park Fair and there's a reason for it. If you listened to every single review out there, you'd be exactly where you are right now. Relying on someone else's opinion and not judging for yourself.

Kep the seating you have and try for the others that you might want. But if you don't get something different, keep a positive mind for the meal you do have. Going into Christmas Eve dinner already thinking that it's going to suck is kind of like going into marriage and already having your divorce lawyer on speed dial.

I think the previous poster gave you good advice: if you can't get something else, then keep an open mind and maybe you'll really like Park Fare.

My advice, though, is to try for a non buffet meal for Christmas Eve. We've tried buffets for Chrstmas Eve anmd Christmas Day over the past several years, and they are uncomfortably crowded. We experienced really long lines at buffet tables. It made getting firsts annoying, but getting seconds was out of the question!

You will love the GF on Christmas Eve. When we were there in 2005 Santa was in the lobby as well as carolers and of course the roasted chestnuts outside as you enter the lobby. The gingerbread house is spectacular as well. Think of the meal as lagniappe and if it is good, great and if not, it was only one element of an entire experience.

BTW, I have not been to 1900 since the renovation, but the food used to be EXCELLENT. One of the best buffets in terms of quality on property IMO.

Enjoy your trip.:)
