When does US/IOA start decorating for xmas? Are the hotels decorated? Anybody have pics? We're wondering if it is worth a weekend to go up and see the decorations since we didn't do it last year when we went up for the MVMCP.

PBH has a lighting of their 50' Christmas tree thats kind of nice.
I've seen the holiday decorations start going up before Thanksgiving but can't tell you when everything is in full holiday regalia.

I hope the decorations are up by Thanksgiving. This will be our first trip to Universal at this time of year.

I'm here now, and there are decorations up at Suess Land (I know that's not the name, but it's all I can think of :rotfl: ).

The Christmas decorations are being put up right now. They should be finished way before Thanksgiving.

We were there last Thanksgiving week (Saturday to Sunday). Most of the decorations were up or being put up.

We stayed at the Portofino and our room was just around the bend from the club lounge, overlooking the piazza. The kids had a blast watching them put up the big tree. Every day we would come back from the parks and see more decorations. Then they lit it during Harbor Nights on Friday after Thanksgiving.

They must have been running behind, because one night we woke to noises out on the Piazza. They were using the bucket lifts to put up decorations. Nothing like having somebody hanging decorations outside your windows at 3 am :teeth:

There was no Grinchmas last year, so at Thanksgiving, no decorations yet in IOA. But over in the studios, the big tree was up, the stockings on the light posts and many other decorations.

Thanks everybody. We're thinking of a quick trip November 28-30 so I was hoping it would be fully decorated. Do the other hotels do decorations? The best rate I'm finding is at RPR but that is for a king room. I don't know if the 4 of us can fit (even though my 2 year old has no problem sleeping in a pack n play). Otherwise, we'll be at HRH.

If I get over there this weekend, I'll take some pictures for you. :thumbsup2

Thank you so so much for this info! It has totally made my night. I had given up on seeing the Dr Suess decoated for the holidays, and now I get my wish back! Its my first holiday season at US/IOA so I can't even imagine what it looks like.

The decorations are slowly coming out at IOA and the Studios. At IOA, the only parts that were decorated today were Seuss Landing and the front of Port of Entry. At the Studios, the NY area and Mel's were about the only things so far. Here are some pix:

Thanks so much for this!!! Now I'm just curious about the hotels. I think we'll be staying at RPR:cloud9: . Anybody know if they decorate?

We won't be there until January 2nd. Any chance the Christmas decorations will still be up that first week of January?

All of the hotels decorate. We have stayed at RPR over Thanksgiving and it was decorated. All of the hotels have a Thanksgiving Dinner special as well. We have ate at HRH's Kitchen and it was real good. We looked at the RPR's Island spread and it looked equally good. Goofy has had the PBH dinner and posted good reports.
